let the ss check their answers.activity two: learn to solve problemst: are you good at figuring out facts on a map? have a try. here is the map of ludford and also possible solutions to the problems. work in pairs. let students study the map and match the blue words with the numbers on the map.sa: 7 build a car park near ludford bridge and improve the bus service into the town center.sb: 4 put more traffic lights and zebra crossing on the a49 in the town.sc: 8 build a new road around the west of the town with a new shopping center near it. sd: 1 make the main square a pedestrian area and build a tunnel under the main square.activity three: listeningt: as far as you know, it is kind of hard to write down the missing words while listening. however, it is helpful and effective in improving your listening level. now get ready to listen to two people discussing the plans.ask students to complete the function file with the words given.(1) should (2) sure (3) would ( 4) why dont (5) good idea (6) how about (7) dont think (8) what aboutstep iii discussing suggestionst: when we decide on the best plan for any place like ludford, we had better follow these stages.let students in pairs go through the speaking strategies: preparation.stage 1?stage 2?stage 3?stage 4?talkback?t: in every stage, what should we do?
