Motivate the love of hometown-Luoyang.Aims of basic knowledge:New words: post office, police station, hotel, restaurant, hospital, bank, street, pay phone, parkPrepositions of place: in, on, next to, near, across from, in front of, in the front of, behindKey points and Difficulties:1. Be able to describe the places by using prepositions.2. Be able to use “there be” sentence form.3. Be able to use “Where?” ask for the location of place.4. Teaching Methods:Task-based teaching, PPTTeaching procedure:Step1: Lead in1. Show a tomato and a box. Ask: “Where is the tomato?” Lead in the prepositions and write on the blackboard. “ on, in, near, next to, in front of, behind, across from, betweenand” Express the difference of “near” and “next to”.2. Show some pictures of new words. Ask “Whats this?” Lead in new words and read together. And then do a practice to check it.Step2: Presentation1. Activity 1a. Match the words with the places in the picture. Let a student introduce the places to us.2. Listen 1b. Listen and circle the places you hear in 1a. Check the answers.3. Listen 1b again and circle the prepositions you hear. Check the answers.4. Explain “there be ” sentence form. Do the practice.5. Pairwork. “Is there a hospital near here? Yes, there is. Its on Bridge Street.” Read and explain the conversation and let the students make the own conversation with their partner. Show the places in 1a. For example, “Is there ? Yes, there is. / No, there isnt. Its on ”6. Activity 2a.Match the sentences with the pictures. Write each number in the box. First let students translate the sentences one by one.7. Pairwork. Look at the pictures and answer “Where is the pay phone?”Practice the prepositions of place.8. Listen 2b. Listen and fill in the blanks with the words in the box.9. A game. Show a map first. There are 10 places on the map. But we only know the one location of place. Students should according to the description, put the buildings on the right places in the map.10. Read 2d. Boys play Tony and girls play Linda. Then answer 3 questions. . Is there a bank near here? . Wheres the bank? . Is Center Street far from here?11. Explain the sentence “How can I help you?” and introduce other similar sentences. Show polite to others.Setp3 Consolidation. Group work. A little guideLuoyang is a famous tourist city.
