Learn to tell stories and express ones opinions.过程与方法Employ task-based teaching mode, and get the students to learn basic sentence patterns by listening and drilling.情感、态度与价值观By learning the story Yu Gong Moves a Mountain, students should learn the spirit of Yu Gong. In our daily life, we may meet some difficulties. We should be brave in the face of difficulties and try our best to solve the problems.教学重难点重点:1.Learn to tell stories and express ones opinions.2. Develop students listening and speaking skills.难点Develop students listening and speaking skills.教材分析In last unit, we have learned how to talk about past events and tell stories. We will continue to learn how to tell a story in this unit. The topic of this unit is legends and stories. It will arise students interest in learning it. Through the study, we also learn the usage of some conjunctions: unless, as soon as and so. that.学情分析从知识基础方面看,学生已经有了良好的基础。在上个单元中,我们已经学习了讲述过去发生的事情。在本单元我们要学习神话故事和寓言故事,此外还要让学生学会讲故事,因此时态依然定格在一般过去时。而在本单元的语法中,我们要进一步学习讲故事时可能用到的一些连词,比如:unless, as soon as and so. that. 通过练习讲故事激发学习英语的兴趣并培养学生的英语思维能力。教学过程Step 1 Lead- in1. Enjoy a video of Yu Gong Moves a Mountain.T: Whats the name of the story?S1:Its Yu Gong moves a mountain.S2: Its a traditional Chinese story.T: Do you know other traditional Chinese stories?S1: Ne Zha Conquers the Dragon KingS2: Magic Brush Ma LiangS3: Change Flies to the Moon设计意图:愚公移山是人人皆知的寓言故事,观看短片可以吸引学生的注意力,提高他们的学习兴趣;师生对话激发了学生的思维,活跃课堂气氛,引起学生表达的欲望。Step 2 Presentation1. Learn new words once upon a time, shoot, stone2. Let students remember the new words in two minutes.3. Look at the pictures in 1a, then read the names of the story in the box.4. Students match the names of the stories with the pictures. 5. Teacher shows answers on the screen.Step 3 Listening1. Go over the sentences in 1b. Make sure students know the meanings.2. Play the recording for the first time. Students just listen.3. Play the recording again. Let Ss check the facts they hear.4. Check the answers.5. Listen and repeat.Step 4 Pair work1. Ask two students read the questions in the box in 1c.2. Practice the conversations in pairs.e.g. A: How does the story happen? B: There were two very tall mountains in front of their house. A: What happened next? B: A very old man tried to move the mountains. A: Where would they put all the earth and stone from the mountains? B: They would put them into the sea.3. Let some pairs act out their conversations in the class.Step 5 ListeningWork on 2a:T: Lets continue to listen to the story. Look at the pictures in 2a. Discuss the things they are going to do. When you listen to the story, please number the pictures.1. Let students guess the right orders.2. Play the recording for the first time to grasp the main idea.3. Play the recording again to number the pictures.4. Check the answers.Work on 2b:1. Let students read the sentences below. Explain some main sentences for them. Make sure they know what to do.2. Play the recording for the students to circle the correct words in the brackets.3. Play the recording again to check the answers.4. Listen and try to repeat the story.设计意图:本部分的内容重在培养学生们听大意和听细节信息的能力,所以先帮助学生听出对话的大意再去完成后面对应的细节题。核对完答案后,再让学生复述听力内容有助于提高学生的语言组织能与运用能力,以及提高学生的听力水平,改善记忆力。Step 6 Group work1.Tell students to make a story in chain. They will tell the story one by one use the information in 2a.2. Let some groups tell the story to the class.3. See which groups story is better.设计意图:在此小组合作活动中,我让组内成员以接龙的形式来共同完成一个故事的讲述,这样做的目的是充分调动学生的积极性,让大家都参与活动,感受合作成果的喜悦之情,培养合作精神。Step 7 Role-play1. Read the conversations and Let students read after the teacher.2. Ask students to role-play the conversation.3. Some main points:1) This story reminds us that you can never know whats possible unless you try to make it happen.remind v. 提醒;使想起remind sb. of/about sth. 使某人想起某事e.g. The picture reminds him of his beautiful hometown.这幅画让他想起了美丽的故乡。remind sb. to do sth. 提醒某人去做某事e.g. Please remind me to come back early.请提醒我早点回来。【运用】根据汉语意思补全下列英语句子,每空一词。 这个故事让我想起了我的童年。This story reminds me of my childhood. 今天晚上你能提醒我给汤姆打电话吗?Could you please remind me to call Tom up tonight?2) I think its a little bit silly.bit n. 有点;稍微a little bit (= a little) + 形容词或副词或比较级时,表示“一点儿”e.g. Im a little bit tired. Lets take a short rest.我有点累了,让我们休息一会。She is a little bit shy. 她有点害羞。辨析: a bit of + 不可数名词 “一点”e.g. She poured a bit of salt water in her mouth.她往嘴里倒了一些盐水。silly adj. 愚蠢的通常指由于缺乏常识、判断力或稳健而作出令人可笑的行为和举止, 在句中可用作定语或表语。e.g. I was silly to get out without a coat in a cold day.在这样冷的天气里没有穿外套就出门,我真傻。3) But what could Yu Gong do instead of moving the mountains?instead of 是复合介词,后接名词、代词、动词的-ing形式或介词短语等,意为“代替,作为的替换”。eg. If you cant go, hell go instead of you.Jack went swimming yesterday instead of playing basketball.The doctors went to Shanghai by train instead of by car.I gave her some advice instead of money.instead与instead of 只有一词之差,但在用法上区别很大。instead是副词,意为“代替”,在句中只能用作状语。e.g. We have no coffee. Would you like some water instead?Donna never studies. Instead, she plays table tennis all day.Step 8 Exercise:1. Yu Gong found a good way to solve (solve) the problem.2.
