Unit 6 An old man tried to move mountains.周晓红Part 1 Analysis of the Teaching Material: This unit is about traditional Chinese stories. The purpose of this unit is to help students know more about traditional Chinese stories and improve the Ss reading abilities.So the teaching aims are following:The Teaching Aims :1. Language goals: To make the Ss can retell the traditional Chinese stories in English.2. Ability objects: To improve the students reading ability, especially their skimming and scanning ability. 3. Emotion or moral objects: By completing the task, the Ss increase their interest and set up self-confidence in learning English Teaching Keys and Difficult Points1. Ss can learn the usage of the key words and sentences.2. Ss can retell the stories.Part 2 Teaching Methods: To make students master the new words and phrases better ,attract more students to enjoy my lesson, I will take the three teaching methods:1.Task- based teaching method 2.Situational teaching method3.Discovering and Team- work methods Part 3 & Part 4 Analysis of the Ss and the studying Methods: The students have learned English for about two years so far , they can understand some simple expressions. They also have great interest and curiosity in learning English now. So , during this part ,I will make the students read the passage by different ways ,scanning, skimming and so on . Teach the Ss how to catch the main idea of a passage , and how to be successful language learners.Part 5 Teaching Procedure:Step 1. Lead-in. In order to review the new words they have learned last class , attract more students to join the class, I will play a game with the whole class, show them 8 questions .Step 2. Presentation. Give students 8 questions . According to the questions and answers .Let students grasp the topic - Journey to the West.The purpose of my designing is to attract students to join the class quickly .Step 3. Reading In order to Help the Ss master the main idea of the story , improve the students reading abilities and skills , I will show them 5 tasks.Fast ReadingTask 1. Read the passage fast and match each paragraph with its main idea. Intensive readingTask 2. Give 3 questions ,let Ss Read Para.1Carefully and find out the answers , let Ss retell the first paragraph according to the questions and answers. Task 3 Read Para.2 carefully and judge “F ” or “T” .If it is wrong , give the right sentence .According to the right sentence , try to retell “what the Monkey King can do “.Task 4Read Para.3 carefully in low voice and choose the best answer .Find out the answer to the questionWhy is the story popular in Western countries ?Task 5Listen to the tape, read the whole passage ,fill in the blanks.Step 4 Summarize & Homework . Make sure the Ss can tell a story .Homework of this lesson is to make sentences with these words.be able to; make 72 changes, turninto; sothat; came out; become interested in; keep doing sth.
