Teaching Plan of Reading Lesson A Letter From My Pen Pal by 顺德区本原小学 夏颖 1 Teaching Objectives After this lesson students will be able to 1 Grasp the form of a letter 2 Learn the usage of the words in past tense 3 Understand more about theatre manners 2 Analysis of Students Students are from Grade Six in Xishan Primary School The teacher is not familiar with the students But most students have mastered basic rules of past tense and some regular or irregular past forms However it may not be their favor to communicate with a new teacher in English which is not good for the study Therefore by providing different funny scenes this lesson is aimed at activating students interest and familiarizing with an abroad letter 3 Analysis of Content The design of this lesson is inspired by its form in letter Its content might be quite difficult for past tense beginners Almost everything is new to them The teacher thought that most students will be interested in new funny things and decided to start the lesson by wearing men s clothes 1 Key Points a To grasp the important words and sentences b To pay more attention to the words in the past tense 2 Difficult Points a To pronounce the new words in past tense properly b To remove the fears of communicating with a new teacher 3 Teaching Methods a Task based method b Fast reading for main idea c Detail reading for specific information d Individual work and class work 4 Teaching Procedures StepsActivitiesIntentionsStrategies 5min Lead in Step 1 Teacher shows up with men s clothes Teacher talks about last week s experience Tend to arouse students interest and teach the new words in past tense and practice in sentences step by step To naturally lead the students into the topic and arouse their interest Individual work 5min Pre reading Step 2 Teacher reviews the experience with students help and then asks the students to talk about what they did last week Teacher makes comments and leads the students to use correct expressions To pool together Ss existing knowledge about past tense and familiarize them with the new content Individual and class work 10min While reading Step 3 Teacher plays the audio and ask questions After that teacher gives out the reading materials and ask the students read loud by themselves Then teacher raises questions about the letter to help students understand it more deeply To teach the new words in past tense and practice in sentences Individual and class work 5min Post reading Step 4 To go over the whole letter again from the very beginning and find the missing point Help students review the present tense and the past tense of key verbs To go over the whole letter again from the very beginning and find the missing point Individual and class work 5min Conclusion Step 5 To teacher some manners about being in the theatre Then summarize the lesson To teach students theatre manners and summarize this lesson Class work 5 Blackboard Design A Letter From My Pen Pal Let s Read 15 Marling Stree
