She always has good ideas of teaching and her class is very interesting. She is very popular among the students. And I know you are very active in her class. I hope you are active and volunteer to answer questions in my class. Teach the new words popular, idea, answer. Teach other new words by using pictures.Step3. Brain stormLet the students think of words that are about birthday and say it out. See who can say the most words.Step 4 Reading 1.Skimming(Tell the students when we need to get the main idea of a passage, we usually read the passage quickly and the main idea usually falls in the first of last paragraph.)1 )Have the students skim the passage and find out the main idea.(People in different countries eat different birthday food.)Show the students the first para, and underline the key sentences.2) Have the students skim the passage and match the main idea with paragraphs.Check the answers with the class by showing the key sentences.2.Careful reading.1)Have the students read the passage again more carefully and fill in the chart in 2b.Check the answers.2) Have the students read para.2 and answer questions 1-2 in 2c.3) Have the students read paras.3&4 and answer questions 3-4 in 2c.4) Guess the word meaning in one go.Step 5. Play a soft piece of music and tell the students that when the music is over, they should stop writing.Invite some students to read their writings to the class.
