Greetings and lead-inT:Good afternoon, everybody! Its great to meet you all here today. And today I have a story about myself when I was young. Do you want to listen?Ss: Yes! T: Now listen carefully! Peter was a middle school student. He is a good boy. One day, his mother asked him to clean his room before leaving for work in the morning. But when his mother came back from work and found the room was still in a mess. His mother became very angry and shouted:“Peter ,clean your room now!” And Peter wasnt happy ,either, and shouted back:“No, I will not do that!”T: The story is over. But lets think about why Peter didnt want to clean his room. If your mother talk to like this, whats your feelings?Ss: Angry/ uncomfortable.T: So, why didnt Peter want do clean his room?Ss: Because the way his mother speak isnt good or polite.T: And then,how to be polite?what should his mother say? And if youre Peters mother, what will you say? S1: Peter,clean your room,please! S2: Can you clean your room,please?S3: Could you please clean your room?T: If your mother talk you like”could you please clean your room?”, guess what will Peter say?S4: Sure, no problem./certainly/ of course.T: And today we are going to learn Unit 3 Could you please clean your room? Section A(1a-1c) Step 2 .PresentationT: Before coming to this unit, I have several questions for you. Do you often clean your room at home? Do you often do other chores at home? What kinds of chores do you often do at home? Then, give students a few minutes to talk,and invite a student to answer these questions. After that, ask students to look at the pictures on the screen, and say what kinds of chores they are . Show the pictures one by one, and write the phrases on the blackboard. Finally, lead students to read these phrases three times.Step 3 Guessing Game After learning all the new phrases, play a guessing game ask students to guess what kinds of chores they are doing to consolidate.T: We have already learned many kinds of chores. So now, lets play a game, look at these part-covered pictures,and try to guess what they are doing. Are you ready?Ss: Yes!T: Look at this picture,What is the cat doing?S1: He is doing the dishes./ He is washing the dishes.T: How about this one? What is the dog doing?S2: He is sweeping the floor.T: .S3: .T:All of you have done such a good job. Can you still remember what kind of chores they are doing? After that, show some phrases on the screen, and ask students to translate them into Chinese.Step 4. Listening practice T: Here, Peter and his mother are talking about doing chores, listen and decide who will do the following chores. Then play the tape twice, for the first time, ask students to just listen to get the main idea, for the second time invite students to complete the chart in 1b. After playing the tape, invite some students to check the answers. Correct mistakes if there is any.Step 5. Sentence pattern presentation After checking the answers, ask students to role-play the listening material. Ask students to pay attention to the two sentence pattern in the reading material:Could you please take out the rubbish?Could you please make your bed and fold your clothes?And ask students if they can ask others to do thing in this way.T: Could you please use this sentences pattern to ask others to do the chores for you?Ss: Yes!T: Could you please do the dishes, Tom?S1: Sure, no problem/ Of course/ Certainly.T: Could you please make the bed?S2: Sorry, I cant. I have to do my homework / am studying for the test/ am going to play basketball.S3: . While students are answering the questions, write the answers on the blackboard. Step 6. Pair work Ask students work in pairs to make their own conversations. One asks, and the other answers. Then change the role. Give them a few minutes to prepare. 4 minutes later, invite several groups to act out their conversations. Help them correct mistakes if any.Step 7. Group workAn interview program T:Our school is making an interview about doing chores . And you are going to give a talk at the program. Work in groups of four, one acts the reporter, and other three students act the guests. Gives them 5 minutes to prepare.Reporter: Good afternoon,everyone. Im so happy to meet all of you here. Today we are going to talk about doing chores at home. So do you often do chores at home, Peter?S1: Yes, I do.Reporter: Could you please tell us what kind of chores you often do?S1: Certainly ,I often.Reporter: How often do you do that?S1: .Reporter: Do you think it is necessary for kids to do some chores for their parents?why?S1. S2. S3.Reporter: Thanks for coming. Goodbye! 5 minutes later, invite a few groups come to the front to act out their dialogues.T: Youve done good job.
