We are immunized from birth against many of the most dangerous diseases. A large number of once fatal illnesses can now be cured by modern drugs and surgery. It is almost certain that one day remedies will be found for the most stubborn remaining diseases. The expectation of life has increased enormously. But though the possibility of living a long and happy life is greater than ever before, every day we witness the incredible slaughter of men, women and children on the roads. Man versus the motor-car! It is a never-ending battle which man is losing. Thousands of people the world over are killed or horribly killed each year and we are quietly sitting back and letting it happen. It has been rightly said that when a man is sitting behind a steering wheel, his car becomes the extension of his personality. There is no doubt that the motor-car often brings out a mans very worst qualities. People who are normally quiet and pleasant may become unrecognizable when they are behind a steering-wheel. They swear, they are ill-mannered and aggressive, willful as two-years-olds and utterly selfish. All their hidden frustrations, disappointments and jealousies seem to be brought to the surface by the act of driving. The surprising thing is that society smiles so benignly on the motorist and seems to condone his behavior. Everything is done for his convenience. Cities are allowed to become almost uninhabitable because of heavy tragic; towns are made ugly by huge car parks; the countryside is desecrated by road networks; and the mass annual slaughter becomes nothing more than a statistic, to be conveniently forgotten. It is high time a world code were created to reduce this senseless waste of human life. With regard to driving, the laws of some countries are notoriously lax and even the strictest are not strict enough. A code which was universally accepted could only have a dramatically beneficial effect on the accident rate. Here are a few examples of some the things that might be done. The driving test should be standardized and made far more difficult than it is; all the drivers should be made to take a test every three years or so; the age at which young people are allowed to drive any vehicle should be raised to at least 21; all vehicles should be put through stringent annual tests for safety. Even the smallest amount of alcohol in the blood can impair a persons driving ability. Present drinking and driving laws (where they exist) should be mad much stricter. Maximum and minimum speed limits should be imposed on all roads. Governments should lay down safety specifications for manufacturers, as has been done in the USA. All advertising stressing power and performance should be banned. These measures may sound inordinately harsh. But surely nothing should be considered as too severe if tit results in reducing the annual toll of human life. After all, the world is for human beings, not motor-cars.26. A three-hour, wine-soaked lunch with a quick rush back to the office is no longer on.Traveling on the highways,it is rare to see anyone breaking the 130 km/h speed limit when one few traveled below it. The speed cameras are clearly signed so drivers know when they are coming Theres even all official web site listing fixed and mobile camera locations and it is updated regularlyMaybe it is because of such transparency by government, rather than the secrecy too often used by authorities in many other countries that more French can enjoy their life thanks to speed cameras36We can learn from the first paragraph that Aspeed cameras cost us our livesBspeed cameras help HS drive properlyCmost people think speed cameras are good for slowing drivers downDmost people think speed cameras are used to make money for the government37In France, a driver should obey the following rules EXCEPT Ablood alcohol limit loweringBspeed limit obeyingCcamera location updatingDseat belt wearing38The underlined word transparency in the last paragraph is closest in meaning to Ahonesty Bopenness Cinnocence Dstrictness来39Now you can seldom see in France Alunch time last long with drunk people rushing back to officeBpeople drive at a speed of less than 130 kmhCdrivers drive according to the traffic lightsDpolice conduct traffic in streets40What is the text mainly about?来源AThe argument on speed camerasB The drivers in France hating speed camerasCFrance does successfully in controlling road accidentsDFrance takes many measures in controlling road accidentsDHoneybees are disappearing for unknown reasons around the United StatesLast winter, bees disappeared from 23 percent of American beekeeping businessesCauses of the phenomenon, however, have remained a mysteryNow, scientists from several universities and the United States Department of Agriculture say they have a possible explanation for the bee decline(数量下降)It is a little known virus called Israeli acute-paralysis virus (IAPV)The virus kills beesResearchers in Israel first described it in 2004 , but until now, bee experts hadnt paid much attention to itWhen trying to find out why the bees were disappearing, a research team at Columbia University studied bee colonies ( 群体), some with and the others without declineThe research turned up large numbers of two types of fungi (真菌) once suspected of causing the bee declineThe research results, however, showed that the fungi were almost as common in colonies without a decline as they were in colonies with a declineThe researchers concluded that the two fungi probably werent the causeStudies of the presence of IAPV, however, showed more interesting informationIn those studies, done by a team at Pennsylvania State University in University Park, the virus showed up in 83 percent of samples from colonies with symptoms (症状)Only five percent of samples from symptomless colonies had itScientists still dont know whether IAPIV can single-handedly cause the bee declineThey believe that even if the virus is making colonies sick , it could have a partner in crimeIts possible, for instance, that insects or chemicals in the environment weaken bees, making them more likely to catch IAPVScientists are still trying to figure out how IAPV came to the United StatesThe United States currently allows bee products to be imported from Canada, Australia, and New ZealandIf it turns out that this trade is spreading disease, the rules might eventually change41According to the passage ,IAPV is a virus that _Ahasnt attracted much attentionBwell-known to doctors and scientistCwas first found by Austrian researchersDis dangerous to animals and human beings42The underlined sentence in the fifth paragraph probably means_Athe virus could also cause other damagesBthere must be something that is the real causeCIAPV is not the only cause for the bee declineDthe virus may be caused by the polluted environment43From the third and fourth paragraphs, we know researchers draw their conclusions by means of _Acalculating Bcomparing CexaminingDinvestigating44What still remains unknown to American scientists according to the passage?AHow and why to kill IAPVBHow IAPV came to AmericaCWhether bee products should be importedDHow to change the rules of the bee products trade45The best title for this passage would be _ABee Disease BHow to Kill IAPVCA Virus IAPV DTwo Types of Fungi第二节 信息匹配(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)阅读下列应用文及相关信息,并按照要求匹配信息。 请在答题卡上将对应题号的相应选项字母涂黑。以下是旅游景点的信息:A.
