Emotive goals: Students can realize the beauty of their hometown and show their love to their hometown.Part 2 Student analysisIn the reading part, students have learned a passage about Singapore and have known when introducing a place, it comes to the location, size, population, food, places to visit and weather. They know little about the size, population about their hometown, and also its hard for them to talk about the places to visit in English.Part 3 Important and difficult pointsThe important points: students can organize the information location, size, population, food, places to visit and weather) about their hometown with some linking words or sentences.The difficult points: the expressions about the food and places to visit in English.Part 4 Teaching methods Group cooperation,demonstration teaching method Part 5 Teaching procedureStep 1: lead-in T: look at the picture, where is it?S: Its Singapore.T: Do you know anything about Singapore?S: Yes, its in.T: You have known a lot about Singapore, Lets read a passage about Singapore. Please find the information about Singapore and fill in the chart of part one.Students have learnt a lot about Singapore, so students can easily get the information after reading the passage. Also it helps to review what they have learnt. From this passage Id like students to generalize what aspects should or can included when introducing a place. It intends to make students understand what to write when introducing a place from an example.Step 2: Pre-writingTask 1 Enjoy a video T: Today, Id like you to a city. Lets enjoy a video and pay attention to those aspects (location, size, population, food, places to visit and weather) about the city. T: Which city is it about? S: Nanchang / our hometown. T: Would you like to introduce our hometown to other people? S: Yes. T: How much do you know about Nanchang? Lets check it. T: Wheres Nanchang?S: Its in southeast of China.T. or it lies in southeast of China. Whats the size of Nanchang?S: Its about 7,402 square kilometers in size.T: or it has an area of about 7,402 square kilometers. Whats the population of China?S: The population is about 5 million.T: or it has a population of about 5 million. Do you know the following places in Nanchang?S: Tengwang Pavilion, Quishui Square, The Star of Nanchang, The Museum of Marquis Haihun.T: which is the special food in Nanchang?S: All of them. It intends to provide the information about Nanchang with a video, but publicity film about Nanchang is only in Chinese. The quiz about Nanchang is to make sure students know those things about Nanchang in English.Task 2 Make a city cardT: Please make a city card about Nanchang. If you have some problems, you can have a talk with your group. Then share a students city card with class. It intends to make sure all the students have got the information (location, size, population, food, places to visit and weather) about Nanchang. So students have got what to write.Task 3 Learn useful expressions T: Read the passage again and circle the sentences and phrases that are useful for your writing.
