Unit5 Topic 2 He is running on the playground Section A Teaching objections:1. Learn the names of school buildings.2. Learn the present continuous tense.3. Be able to simply describe the action that is happening, using the present continuous tense.Teaching procedure: Here are five steps. Step 1 Review1. Ask the students “do you love your school?” and talk about the buildings in the school.2. Learn and master the new words of some school buildings with pictures and finish Part 3 on page 10.3. Praise a student who gave answers of Part 3. Ask and answer between the teacher and the students. And help them to answer my questions by using present continuous tense. Explain the usage of the present continuous tense as well as its structure, lead to the new lesson.Step 2 Presentation It is an important step。Then Ill ask Ss to look at the blackboard carefully. Ill draw a picture on the blackboard. Then ask the others: Is she swimming? Of course they will say, No she isnt. She is dancing. Write the sentences on the blackboard. The purpose of this part is to help Ss feel the present continuous tense. In order to help them know further about it, I will play a short videos as a model. And ask them “What are they doing?” The purposes are, first, help Ss get to know how to use the present continuous tense, second, to improve their oral English. In this part, Ill ask Ss to practice as much as possible. Because my class have few chances to speak English after school. Even at school, they seldom use English to express themselves, because they feel shy or they are afraid of making mistakes. I hope that everyone has at least an opportunity to speak English in class. Because every teacher knows, Practice makes perfect!Step3. ConsolidationIn this part, Ill change the listening order,1. Let Ss listen to 3 on page 10 and answer the following questions.What is Jane doing? Is Michael watching TV?Why I do this? There are only two simple questions. Students can make it easily; it is good for building up their self-confidence. 2. Ask Ss to listen to 2a on page 9 and fill out the form.3. Ask students to repeat the passage according to the form above. 4. Divide the students into 2 groups and read the text out. Purpose of this step: improve Ss abilities of listening and speaking.In this part, the teacher should pay attention to Ss pronunciation and intonation. Step4. Practice In order to check whether they have mastered the usage of present continuous tense or not, I prepare some pictures for them, ask them to have a free talk in group. Then ask them to make similar dialog after the model and then act them out with their partners.The purpose is to help Ss get to know how to teach themselves and how to work with the partner.At the end of the step, I prepare a game for Ss. Ask Ss to perform what they want to do in the front of the classroom, let the others guess what they are doing. Purpose of this game: help Ss get to know when and how to use the present continuous tense. At the same time, they can get knowledge in their play. We know, the more interesting the game is, the longer we will keep their attention, and the faster they will master.Teach students sing a song “What are we doing?” to help them master the new lesson better.Step5. ProjectAsk students to make a survey about what are their family members doing when they get home and fill out a form. Purpose of this step: consolidate the new lesson: Present continuous tense.
