3、 过去进行时(见八下教材P109) 含义:表示在过去某一时刻或某一段时间正在进行的动作。这一特定时间除有上下文暗示 外，一般用时间状语来表示，如：at this time yesterday(在昨天的这个时候), at that time(在那时), at eight last night(在昨晚八点), at nine last Friday morning(在上周 五上午九点), 或者用另一个动 作来表示过去的时间，如： They were playing basketball when she arrived. 4、e arrived. 2. when和while区别 (1) 由when引导的时间状语从句，如主句用过去进行时，从句用一般过去时； 由while引导的时间状语从句，如主句用一般过去时，从句用过去进行时； 即：主句(过去进行时)+when从句(一般过去时) =while从句(过去进行时)，+主句(一般过去时) 如：We were talking when the teacher came in. =While we were talking, the teacher came in. (2) 如果从句和主句都是进行时(包括现在进行时和过去进行时)，多用while引导从句， 可译成“与此同时”。如
