The story is set on the 19th centurys England when and where the Inheritance of Property and the charity schools were popular With the vivid description and inviting arrangement of plot,Charlotte Bronte,the author of this novel,secretly and silently presents a kind o
3、f up-ward and independent spirit which directs the growth and maturation of heroines life attitude in her work That is to be self-respect,and then to be full of love toward lifeThrough Janes plain and frank tone in the narration,we can feel her positive attitude toward life and also the confidence i
4、n her own worth. “Even for me life had its gleams of sunshine”That is the summary she makes of her mostly miserable life and the rare comfort she gets from a servant on her last evening living in Gateshead,her aunts homeThe word “even” shows the tone of both frankness and rejoicingFrankness is her a
5、ttitude toward her unfortunate life,and the rejoicing is her hopeful attitude toward her unfortunate life The former is self-respect,and the latter is love toward lifeIn Janes struggle against life,her life details,her feelings and viewpoints toward her life together form a kind of life attitude tha
6、t is mentioned above, and the life attitude experience a process of growth under the direction of her independent spirit Her experience of life can be divided into five periods according to the places she had stayed just like a playThey are Gateshead, Lowood, Thornfield,Moor House and Ferndean The f
7、irst scene happened at GatesheadHappy ones enjoy their happiness in similar ways,while unhappy ones suffer in a variety of ways Janes fate is discribed to the latter category As a child,she had no parents As an orphan adopted by her uncles family,she had no uncle,but the cruel and merciless aunt and
8、 cousins Thus Janes tragic life opens before usWith her aunt and cousins enjoining their time together,she stayed alone in another room,reading a book She couldnt still understand it completely,but she managed to find interest in the pictures in itNaturally we feel a kind of upward power,which is th
9、e power of life,while the power originates from the attitude toward life The attitude is that she loves her life passionatelyWhen she would go to a new environment,her aunt,MrsReed slandered her before her future guardianThe maltreatment,the destroying of her reputation and the probable damage of he
10、r coming new future made Jane will never forgive her At same time,her words spur the conscience of the auntShe is poor and has no position,but she is her niece She should at least get her just treatment and mercy,if not loveAs a weak girl,she fought for the reverence of her life,and she struggle for
11、 a meaningful lifeBecause she is a child,her wayis somewhat childish Her burst can neither get for her love from the aunt nor her reputation from her future. So the life attitude is still immature The first part is about Janes life in Gateshead The depiction is mainly laid on the daily life and psyc
12、hology The following part is about the most important period in Janes growth There she met two persons who gave the greatest help to her lifeOne of them is Helen BurnsHelens attitude toward insult and slander affect her deeply Being able to be tolerant,and then to correct her own behaviors shows rem

15、ed by her life attitudeEvery youth who love their life will not satisfy with one kind of formularized life They aspire to freedom and the outer world unknown by them Jane is no exception She went to the Thornfield as a governess to her will Someone has said that people will give up all their self-re
16、spect before love. But Jane is an exception. Through the description of the dialogues between Jane and Mr.Rochester and the psychology of Jane,she shows us how the charm of self-respect in her own heart As the love arrived,the self-respect seemed become an obstacle Having been compared with Miss Ing
