I had never seen anything like that before, and I was intrigued, so I started surfing the Internet to look for all sorts of phrases that might throw light on the mystery of Pol

According to the site, beach separators have been part of Polish beach-going culture for a long time, but have recently been getting a lot of attention online, after foreign tourists started posting p

10、hotos on social networks. Beach separators vary in size according to the size of the group. Youll see tiny ones only surrounding the space around a single beach towel, and giant ones separating a large part of the beach. They arent designed to protect their users away from prying eyes. Its no secret

11、 that strong winds are very common on the shores of the Baltic Sea, so they were originally meant to allow beach-goers to enjoy sunbathing without having their belongings blown away or sand blown in their faces. However, in recent years, people have begun criticizing them. During the summer, beach s

12、eparators are placed so close to each other that a person can hardly pass between them, let alone find a place to put their own beach towels. This creates a problem for foreign tourists unfamiliar with them, who just want a place to lie down on the sand. And thus they can easily create all kinds of

13、conflicts due to lack of space. For example, some people leave the beach for hours but leave their separators in place to make sure that their space doesnt get occupied by someone else. But if you focus on blue light as a major problem affecting your sleep or your eye health, its time to l

17、ook at it from another aspect. As Phillip Yuhas, a professor of optometry and vision science, writes at The Conversation, blue light isnt a uniquely technological evil. Its part of sunlight. There are studies in mice that have found blue light can damage their eyes, but the eyes of the mice are diff

18、erent from ours. The pigments (色素)and the crystalline lens (晶状体)of our eyes actually block blue light fairly well so in a sense, we already have built-in blue light-blocking protection. Adding more protection isnt likely to help, though. You can buy glasses and screen filters (过滤器) that block Hue li

19、ght, but Yuhas points out they are probably a waste of money. These products do not block out much blue light. The leading blue light-blocking anti-reflective coating, for example, blocks only about 15% of the blue light that screens send out. You could get the same reduction just by holding your ph

20、one another inch from your face. The American Academy of Ophthalmology doesnt recommend blue light-blocking products, either. Instead, if youre concerned about your eye health or your ability to get to sleep on time, you already know what to do. Put the screens away at bedtime. Read a book or find s

21、omething else to do. While youre using screens, take a 20-second break every 20 minutes to look at something 20 feet away (the 20-20-20 rule).
