Three weeks after I sent out my application, I received a rejection letter from them saying that I was not the most
10、 suitable candidate for the program, and therefore, didnt make the shortlist for interview. When I saw the word “unfortunately” at the beginning of the letter, I knew I screwed up. For a second, I really wanted to stick my head into the oven. But I soon cooled off, and started to think what it meant
11、 to me. Being the first rejection letter I had ever received, it certainly had positive meanings to me.First of all, this letter made me realize that I was not as good as I thought (I was). In the previous 20 years of life, I was not once rejected. I went to the best primary and middle school in my
12、city, and attended a reasonably good university of my choice. I realized, that I had lived a protected life, and now I had to start to face the grim realities of the world. More importantly, it was a letter that taught me how I could improve. The company/university was kind enough to list the areas
13、I needed to work on, such as English proficiency and the display of personal characters in my personal statement. These suggestions and tactics could certainly be kept in my file for future use. So before the trip, I had serious doubts about myself. A valuable lesson I learnt after the trip was that
46、trying was better than doing nothing at all. I should never let fear get in my way. To sum up, though it took me a long time to save for this trip, I would say it was definitely money well spent, coz the experience itself was invaluable.
