ExtentofTheworkstobecarriedoutunderthisSub-ContractshallludethewholeofmaterialsandlabournecessaryforthecompleteFireServiceInstallationasshownontheDrawingsand/orcalledforinthespecifications,andwithoutabrogatingthemoreextensivedetailemplifiedelsewhereintheSpecificationsandDrawings.Beforesubmittingthetender,theSub-Contractorisadvisedtovisitthesiteandmakehimselfthoroughlyacquaintedwiththelocationandallaspects(notonlythemodificationwork)whichmightaffecthistender.TheSub-Contractorwillberesponsiblefortakingallmeasurementsrequiredenablinghimtocompletehistender.Noclaimwillbeconsideredonthegroundsofignoranceoftheconditionsunderwhichtheworkistobecarriedout.ThisSub-ContractorshallcarryoutallFSinstallationworksasspecifiedbelow:-FireHydrant/HoseReel(FH/HR)Supply,installationandcommissioningofhosereelsetludingallassociatedaccessoriesasindicatedonnsludingdisposalofalldisusedmaterialsfromsite.Relocationoftheexistinghosereelsetludinghosereels,pipeworkandfittingandassociatedaccessoriesasshownonthedrawings.DrainandrefilltheFH/HRAllexistingsprinklersystemfornon-renovationareaaretobeSupply,installationandtesting&commissioningofthenewsprinklerheadsc/wpipework,fittings,andassociatedaccessoriesetc.asshownonSupply,installationandtesting&commissioningofpre-actionsprinklersystemc/wcontrolvalve,sprinklerheads,andassociatedaccessoriesetc.asshownondrawings.Diversion/dismantlingoftheexistingsprinklersystemludingsprinklerheads,pipeworkandfittingandassociatedaccessoriesasshownonthedrawings.Drainandrefillthesprinklersystem(tobedonebytheexistingF.S.maintenancecontractor).Carryouthydraulictestfornewsprinklerpipeworkbeforeconnectionofsamepipeworktosprinklerdistributionpipe.AllexistingandAFAsystemfornon-renovationareashallbeTakedown,reinstateandcommissioningofAutomaticandFireAlarmSystemludingsmoke/heatdetectors,breakglassunits,alarmbell,visualfirealarmunitsandallelectricalworks,etc.asindicatedandDiversion/dismantlingoftheexisting firealarmsystemludingdetectors,breakglassunit,firealarmbells,flashinglights,wiringandconduitsandallassociatedaccessoriesfortherenovationareaAllcostsurredforthenecessarymodification/altion/recementofexistingF.S.installations(ludingequipment)inordertocopewiththenewF.S.installationshalldeemedtobeludedintheSub-Contract7.Allcostsforre-programmeofexistingaddressabletypeAFAsystem(tobedonebytheexistingF.S.maintenancecontractor)shallbeludedintheSub-ContractSum.SupplyandbuiltinallG.I.sleevesforpipespassingthroughfireratedpartitions,structuralwalls,beamsandslabsetc.asindicatedludingFRPbackfillingbetweenpipeandsleeves.Paintingofallexposedfireservicespipework,conduits,trunkingandequipmentwithinrenovationarea.Carryoutallnecessaryutilitysubmissions(i.e.314A,251)andtimelyobtainalls.CarryoutcommissioningandnecessarytestingofallequipmentasrequestedbytheFireServicesDepartment,WaterAuthorityandtheConsultingEngineer&attendantforFSDinspection&WAinspection.TheSub-ContractorshallberesponsiblefortheliaisonwiththeexistingFireServicesMaintenanceContractorinrelationtothetemporarysuspensionofF.S.systemswhichmayaffecttheareasotherthanrenovationareas.TheSub-ContractorshallthereforeberemindedthattheexistingF.S.installationfornon-renovationareashallbemaintainedingoodworkingorderthroughouttheentireSub-Contractperiod.AnynecessarytemporaryworkludingdiversionofexistinginstallationshallbedeemedtobeludedintheSub-ContractSum. Duetolimitedstoragespaceavailable,theSub-Contractormustmakehisownarrangementtoensurethatmaterialsdeliveredtositearereadyforinstallation.Insomecases,thismayinvolvedoublehandlingandtheSub-Contractorshallberesponsibleforsuchadditionalexpenses.StoragespaceshallberestrictedtotheareaasdirectedbytheProprietor.Sub-Contractorisnotallowedtostoretheirmaterialswherevertheylike. TheSub-Contractorshallavoiddisturbingthetenantsareas.Ifworkhastobecarriedoutinsidethetenant’sarea,adequateprotectionofequipment,furnitureorotherpropertymustbemadebeforeworkistobecarriedout.Properdustscreen/boardmustbedandinstalledforprotectingtheequipmenttothesatisfactionoftheProprietorandsubsequentlydismantledandremovedfromtheareaafterworkiscompleted.Propercleaningmustbecarriedoutcontinuouslyduringtheinstallation.ThemanagementofficehastherighttostopworkatanytimeifitisconsideredthattheSub-Contractor’sworkmayaffectthetenants.Overtime,overnightand/orworkingduringholidaysmayberequiredinordertocarryoutthenecessarymodificationworkwhichundernocircumstancesshallcausedisruptiontothenormaloperationofthebuilding.TheSub-Contractorshallprovidesufficientworkmen/supervisor/foremantoensurethattheworkiscarriedouttothesatisfactionoftheProprietor/ConsultingEngineers.ShouldtheSub-Contractorconsiderthatitmight enecessarytocauseovertimeworkandnightworkinordertocompletetheWorkstotherestrictionsnotlimitedtoaccesstotheSiteandworkinghoursetc.bytheDateofCompletion,hemustallowforsuchacontingencyinhisTenderPrice.Noclaimforanyextrainthisconnectionwillbeconsidered.TheSub-ContractorshallsubmitapplicationstotheArchitectandConsultingEngineersforapprovaltoworkovertime.Noguaranteethatapprovalinthisrespectwillbegiven. TheSub-Contractorisalsoresponsibleforthedisposalofdismantledfireservicesequipmentandremovedfromsitefromtimetotime.SuchcostsshallbeallowedforintheTenderSum. TheSub-ContractorshallliaisewiththeernmentforanysubmissionsrequiredinthisProject.TheSub-Contractorshallallowinthistenderforallcosturredforthenecessarysubmissiontothe.SECTION2ThissectionofthespecificationsetsouttherequirementsfortheinstallationofportablefireextinguishersandotherhandappliancesofthetypeapprovedbytheFireServicesDepartment,.CO2FIRESupplyandinstallallCO2fireextinguisherswhereindicatedonFireextinguishersshallhaveacapacityof4.5/5.0kg,CO2F.E.andshallbeofseamless,rivetless,copperconstructioncompletewithcharge.WallmountingbracketsshallbedandfixedbytheSub-Contractor.AIREXPELLEDWATERFIRESupplyandinstallallairexpelledwaterfireextinguishersasindicatedondrawings.Extinguishersshallhaveacapacityof9litreswall-mountingbracketsshallbedandfixedbytheSub-Contractor.FireblanketsandsandbucketsshallconformtotherequirementsoftheFSD.Bucketsshallbeofnotlessthan10litrescapacityandshallbegalvanizedsteelandpaintedred.FireblanketsshallcomplywithBS7944:1999andshallbeofFSDapprovedheavydutyandreusabletype.TESTProvidetheFireServices No.(FS251)forallpotablefireservicesequipmentandsubmittoFSDforfireapplication.PARTICULAR-THISTheSub-Contractorshallsupplyandinstalltheportablefireextinguisherswhereindicatedandspecifiedonthedrawings.TheworkshallbecarriedoutbyacontractorwiththeFSDintheernmentofHongKonginaccordancewiththeFireServices(InstallationContractors)Regulations,FireServicesOrdinance,Chapter95,Lawsof.ThissectionoftheSpecificationsetsoutgenerallytherequirementsforthesupply,installation,commissioningandtestingtoprovideanautomaticfiresprinklersystemtotheareasshownonthedrawings,allinaccordancewithrulesandregulationsofthefollowing:LossPreventionCouncilRulesonFireSprinklerCodesofPractice(Amended)FireServicesDepartment,AnyotherauthorityhavingjurisdictionovertheThefollowingworkshallbecarriedoutbytheSub-Supply,installation,commissioningandmodificationofsprinklerinstallationforasshownondrawing.Supply,installation,commissioningandtestingofpre-actionsprinklerinstallationforasshownondrawing.Diversion/dismantlingoftheexistingsprinklerheadsludingpipeworkforareaasshownondrawingsorspecified.Costfordrainrefillthesystemandinter-connectionbetweennewandexistingpipeworkbytheexistingF.S.maintenancecontractorasperspecifiedonsection1.03itemBeforecommencinganyworkthesuccessfultenderershallsubmitworkingdrawingstotheArchitect/ConsultingEngineerforapproval.DESIGNOFAllpiandotherpartsofthesystemshallbecedsoasnottointerferewiththefunctioningofanyothernt.Everycareshallbetakentopreventairpockets.Aircocksshallbefittedwherenecessary,inpositionsconvenientforoperationandconnectedtopiarrangedtoconveyanydischargedwatertotheoutsideofthebuilding.Careshallbetakentoavoidlowsectionswhi aytendtocollectsiltandthelike.Lowsectionsshallbeprovidedwithdra ockssecurelypadlocked losedposition.DESIGNOFSYSTEMThesystemshallbeofthemosteconomicaldesignconsistentwithefficientfireprotectionandshallconformtoallrequirementsoftheindicatedlauseThesystemshalloperateautomatically.Immediayuponoperationofthesystem,audiblealarmsinareasservedbythesprinklershallstart.VisualindicationshallappearontheFireServiceSupervisorypanelindicatingthatsprinklersinaparticularzonehaveoperation.NecessarypressureregulatingsetsshallbeprovidedtostabilisethesystempressureatallpointstotherequirementsofFireServicesDepartment.Allpishallbecompletedwithhangers,jointsandtheThepipesshallbesizedasindicatedbutthepipe-runasshownarediagr ticandtheSub-Contractorshallallowforanydiversiontosuitthesiteconditions.Sprinklerheadsshallbeglassbulbtypeofappropriatetemperatureratingandofapatternapprovedbytheconcernedandshallbesuitablyarrangedondistributingpipes.HeadsandflushtesshallbestandardbronzefinishonotherfinishcolourtobeselectedbytheArchitect.HeadsshallbespacedtosuittheConcealedtypesprinklerheadshallbeinquickresponsetypeandcomplywithrequirementofFSDcircularletterno.1/2001.Whereheadsareliabletobeaccidentallydamagedtheyshallbeprotectedbywiremeshguards.Headstobeinstalledonfalseceilingshallbecompletewithstainlesssteelorchrome-tedcirculartecoveringtheceilingopeningsfromwhichthesprinklersticksout.Theteshallbecapableofbeingremovedandre-instatedwiththesprinklerhead.Allheadsshallbeinstalledinaneatlineararrangementtoavoidlightfittings,ducts,TheSub-Contractormustguaranteetoprovidenofewerheadsthanrequiredby.Providedrainsfromsprinklerheadsandrunpipeworktothenearestconspicuouspositionneardrainagesump.Pre-actionsystemshallbedandinstalledwherespecified.Pre-actionsystemcanbetinstallationsorsubsidiaryextensions.Therearetwotypesofpre-actionsystemsasfollows.Unlessotherwisespecified,Type2systemshallbeusedforpre-actionsystem:-Type1system-thesystemservestopreventaprematuredischargeofwaterfrompipeworkorsprinklersthathavesufferedmechanicaldamage.Thewaterwillnormallyflowintothepre-actionpipeworkwhenboththesprinklerisopenedandthefiredetectionsystemisoperated.Sprinklerscanbeinstalledintheuprightorpendentposition;Type2system-thesystemfacilitatesanearlydischargeofwaterfromadrypipeinstallationbyopeningtheinstallationmaontrolvalve,thusfillingtheinstallationpipeworkwithwater,uponoperationofafiredetectionsystem.Consequently,thewatershallfillthepre-actionsystempipeworkuponoperationofafiredetectionsystembeforethesprinklerisoperated.Sprinklershallbeinstalledintheuprightposition.Thepre-actionsprinklerinstallationpipeworkshallbenormallychargedwithcompressedairunderpressureandmonitoredtogiveawarningindicationonreductionoftheairpressure.Compleossofairpressureshallinitiatethevisualindicationandaudiblealarmforafirealarm.Thenumberofsprinklersinapre-actionsystemshallnotexceedtheInalight-hazardinstallation:500perInanordinary-hazardinstallation:1000perInahigh-hazardinstallation:1000perThepre-actionsystemcontrolpanelshallorporatethenecessaryrelays,timers,keytypesswitches,alarmandtroublelightsessentialtotheoperationofthesystem.Thecontrolpanelshallemployprintedcircuitboardsforthecomponentsandshallbecompleyfactory-wiredandreadyforconnectiononSite.Thecapacityofthestand-bybatterypowersupplyshallbecapableofoperatingthepre-actionsystemforatleast72hours.Atofthe72-hourstand-byperiod,thestand-bypowersupplyshallstillbecapableofoperatingthepre-actioncontrolpanelandsolenoidvalveoractuatortoreleasethepre-actionalarmvalve;Thepre-actioncontrolpanelshallinitiateoperationofthepre-actionalarmvalveimmediayintheeventofafirealarmsystemfault(ludingafailureoftheprimaryandstand-bypowers)whichmayresultinfailuretoexecutetheappropriateactionsintheeventoffire.Thepre-actioncontrolpanelrelaysandcircuitryoperatingthepre-actionalarmvalvesolenoidvalvesoractuatormechanismsshallbeduplicatedandwiredsuchthatnosinglefaultorfailureshallrendertheinstallationinoperable.Monitoringdevicesshallbedandinstalledtogive:-Indicationthatanystopvalvesdown-streamoftheinstallationcontrolvalvesetarefullyopen;Audibleandvisualwarningsatthepre-actioncontrolpanelthatanymonitoredstopvalveisnotfullyopen;Audibleandvisualwarningsatthepre-actioncontrolpanelthatthecovertoaconditionindicatorswitchhasbeenremoved;Audibleandvisualwarningsatthepre-actioncontrolpanelofshortcircuitordisconnectionoftheleadsofanysolenoidvalveoractuatorwhichisenergizedtoopen;Audibleandvisualwarningsatthepre-actioncontrolpanelofshortcircuitordisconnectionoftheprimarypowersupply,thesecondarypowersupplyoranybatterychargerassociatedwiththeoperationofthepre-actionsystem.Thefiredetectionsystemusedtoactivateapre-actionsprinklersystemshallcomplywithLPCRulesforAFAInstallationswhereappropriateandthefollowing:-Eachroomorcompartmentprotectedbysprinklersshallhavesufficientfiredetectorstoinitiatereleaseofthepre-actioninstallationwithouttheoperationofanydetectorsexternaltotheroomorcompartmentorlocatedwithinFiredetectionsystemsemployingcoidenceconnection(requiringaresponsefromtwodetectorstoinitiateoperationofthepre-actionalarmvalve)maybeusedwithType1andType2pre-actioninstallations.Considerationshallbegiventoactuatethepre-actionalarmvalveonoperationofasinglefiredetectorwherefast-develofiresmayoccur;Anytwodetectorsofagroupofdetectorsthatmayinitiatetheoperationofthepre-actionalarmvalveshallbeseparayconnectedtotwiringcircuits(coidenceconnection);Considerationshallbegiventothenatureoftheoccupancy,buildingheight,sprinklerthermalsensitivity,airmovementandthe HOSEREELThetubingofeveryhosereelshallnotexceed30metresinlengthandbecapableofbeingwoundroundadrumofnotlessthan150mmindiameterandledaroundsharpobstructionswithoutkinking.Whenfittedwithhosereelnozzle,thetubingshallbecapableofprojectingajetnotlessthan6metresinlength.Thehosereelnozzleshallbebronzemadeandhavea4.5mmorificeandbefittedwithasimpletwo-wayvalvetoopenorshutoffthejet.Thevalveshallnotbespring-loaded.ThehosereelcontrolvalveshallbeofgatevalvetypeapprovedbytheWaterAuthority.Suchvalveshallbeclosedbyturningthehand-wheelinaclockwisedirection.Asimpletwo-wayballvalveapprovedbytheHongKongWaterAuthoritymaybeusedasternativetoagatevalve.Hosereeldrumsshallbepaintedinred.Thehosereelassemblyshallberobustinconstructionandbecapableofwithstandingnormalimpactandstressduringoperation.Risingmainsandassociatedpipeworkusedforthehosereelsshallbenotlessthan40mmnominalboreandpipesfeedingindividualhosereelshallnotbelessthan25mmnominalAhosereelshallbesoinstalledthatitscontrolvalveandnozzle,whichshouldbesituatedadjacenttoeachother,areatapositionaboveandnotmorethan1350mmfromthefinishedfloorlevel.Forarecessedtypehosereel,suchcontrolvalveandnozzlemayberecessedtoadiscernibleandaccessiblepositionofnotmorethan500mmfromthesurfaceofthewall.Thehosereelshouldnormallybelocatedinoccupiedunits/areastoenabletheoccupantsofthebuildingtoattachafire.However,aseofabuildinghavinganumberofsmallunits,hosereelsmaybelocatedincommonareasimmediayoutsidetheoccupiedunits/areasonthatfloortoprovidecoverage.Anyhosereelsitedonanyescaperoutemaybeoffixedtypeorswingingcradletypeandrecessedintothewall.Ifthehosereeliscarriedonaswingingcradle,itshouldbeconstructedinsuchawaythatwhennotinusetheouterfaceofthereelisflushwiththewallandwhenrequiredforusethecradlemayswingoutlyintothecorridororpassage.Ifthehosereelisofafixedtype,suitableguidering(s)shallbeinstalledtopermiteasywithdrawalofthehosereeltubing.Ifhosereelsarelocatedinrecessestowhichdoorsarefitted,suchdoorsshallbehingedsothatwhentheyareopened,theyshallnotcauseobstructiontoanymeansofescapenortotheoperationofthehosereelsnortothehosebeingrunoutineitherdirections.Thedoorsshallbearthewords"FIREHOSEREEL",letteringofwhichshallbeofatleast50mmhigh.Door
