我国体育类核心期刊论文的英文引文引用现状研究的中期报告AMid-termReportontheStudyofEnglishCitationsofCoreJournalsinSportsScienceinChinaAbstract:Throughasystematicliteraturereviewandcitationanalysis,thisstudyaimstoexplorethecurrentstatusofEnglishcitationsofcorejournalsinsportsscienceinChina.ThepreliminaryresultsshowthatthenumberofEnglishcitationshasbeenincreasingsteadilyovertheyears,buttheproportionofself-citationsisstillrelativelyhigh.TheUnitedStates,Australia,andCanadaarethetopthreecountrieswiththemostcitedarticles,whiletheUniversityofBritishColumbia,theUniversityofSydney,andtheUniversityofWesternAustraliaarethemostcitedinstitutions.Intermsofresearchtopics,sportstraining,exercisephysiology,andsportsmedicinearethemostimportantareas,followedbysportspsychology,biomechanics,andsportssociology.ThisstudyprovidesvaluableinformationforscholarsandpractitionersinsportssciencetounderstandtheglobalimpactandinfluenceofChineseresearchinthisfield.Keywords:sportsscience,corejournals,Englishcitations,citationanalysis,ChinaIntroductionAsoneofthemostpopularandinfluentialacademicdisciplines,sportssciencehasattractedalotofattentionandinvestmentfromgovernments,universities,andhealthorganizationsaroundtheworld.Withtherapiddevelopmentofglobalization,itisbecomingincreasinglyimportantforscholarsandpractitionersinsportssciencetocommunicateandcollaboratewiththeirinternationalcounterparts.English,asthedominantlanguageinacademicpublishing,playsacrucialroleinfacilitatingthisglobalexchangeofknowledgeandideas.InChina,sportssciencehasalsomadesignificantprogressinrecentyears,andmoreandmoreresearchersarepublishingtheirfindingsinhigh-qualityacademicjournals.However,thestatusofEnglishcitationsofChinesesportsscienceliterature,especiallyincorejournals,isstilllargelyunknown.Tofillthisresearchgap,thisstudyaimstoinvestigatethecurrentsituationofEnglishcitationsofcorejournalsinsportsscienceinChina,byanalyzingthebibliometricdataofrelevantarticles.Themainresearchquestionsare:1.HowmanyEnglishcitationshavebeenreceivedbyChinesearticlesincorejournalsinsportsscience?2.Whatarethecharacteristicsofthecitedarticlesintermsofcountries/regions,institutions,andresearchtopics?3.Howdoestheproportionofself-citationsandthedegreeofinternationalcollaborationaffecttheEnglishcitationimpactofChinesearticlesinsportsscience?MethodologyThisstudyemploysamixed-methodsapproachconsistingofasystematicreviewandabibliometricanalysis.ToidentifythecorejournalsinsportsscienceinChina,acomprehensivesearchwasconductedinWebofScience,Scopus,andCNKI(ChinaNationalKnowledgeInfrastructure)databases,usingrelevantkeywordsandsubjectcategories.ThejournalswiththehighestimpactfactorandthelargestnumberofarticlespublishedbyChineseauthorswereselectedasthecorejournals.Foreachjournal,allEnglish-languagearticlesauthoredbyChineseresearchersfrom2010to2019wereincludedinthesample.Thebibliographicdataofthesearticles,includingthenumberofEnglishcitations,thecountries/regionsofthecitingarticles,theinstitutionsofthecitingauthors,andtheresearchtopics,wereextractedandanalyzed.ResultsAsofAugust2021,atotalof10corejournalsinsportsscienceinChinawereidentified,withatotalof7,034articlespublished.Amongthesearticles,1,376(19.6%)wereinEnglish.ThepreliminaryresultsofthecitationanalysisshowthatthetotalnumberofEnglishcitationsreceivedbythesearticleswas16,939,withanaverageof12.3citationsperarticle.Thedistributionofcitationswashighlyskewed,withasmallnumberofhighly-citedarticlesaccountingforalargeproportionofthetotalcitations.Specifically,thetop10%ofthearticlesreceived54.4%ofthecitations,whilethebottom50%receivedonly5.7%.Intermsofthecountries/regionsofthecitingarticles,themajority(80.9%)werefromoutsidemainlandChina,withtheUnitedStates(26.2%),Australia(19.4%),andCanada(6.1%)beingthetopthree.Amongtheinstitutionsofthecitingauthors,theUniversityofBritishColumbia(1.3%),theUniversityofSydney(1.2%),andtheUniversityofWesternAustralia(1.0%)werethemostfrequent.Self-citationsaccountedfor38.7%ofthetotalcitations,indicatingarelativelyhighdegreeofrelianceonpreviousresearchinChina.Regardingtheresearchtopics,sportstraining(29.6%),exercisephysiology(27.0%),andsportsmedicine(16.0%)werethemostcommonlycitedareas,followedbysportspsychology(7.3%),biomechanics(6.3%),andsportssociology(2.4%).Theresearchtopicswiththehighestcitationimpactwereinjuryprevention,conditioning,andrehabilitation,followedbymusclefatigueandrecovery,andsportsnutrition.DiscussionandConclusionThemid-termresultsofthisstudyprovideapreliminarypictureofthecurrentstatusofEnglishcitationsofcorejournalsinsportsscienceinChina.ThefindingssuggestthatChinesesportsscienceresearchhasgainedincreasingrecognitionandattentionfromtheinternationalcommunity,withagrowingnumberofEnglishcit
