BucklerwasborninthevillageofWestDalhousie,NovaScotia,whereheattendedaone-roomschoolhouse.HewasascholarshipstudentatDalhousieUniversity(B.A.,1929),andaphilosophystudentattheUniversityofToronto(M.A.,1930).Aftergraduation,hestayedinToronto,workingasanactuary,until1936,whenhereturnedtoruralNovaScotia,eventuallysettlingonafarminCentreleanearBridgetown.AbouttheAuthor4/66-In1967,hewasawardedtheCanadianCentennialMedalandin1974,hewasmadeanOfficeroftheOrderofCanada.-BucklershowedaremarkablesensitivitytothelandscapeandhumancharacterofhisnativeAnnapolisValley.Oneofhisprincipalstrengthswashislyricalandmetaphoricalprosestyle.AbouttheAuthor5/66Thestoryisaboutthelosingandfindingofalittlepenny.Peterwasahighlyimaginativeseven-year-oldboy.Onedayhegotanewpenny,brightasgold,fromhiskindbutuncommunicativefather,whocouldn’toffertheboyanythinguntilhehadshownsignthatthegiftwouldbewelcome.
