Aftercombiningtheirresultswithtemperaturedata,thescientistsinchargeofthe
studyfoundthatthenortherngreenturtleshavebeenproducingmainlyfemalesfbr
morethantwodecadesandthatthecompletefeminization(雌性化)ofthispopulationis
possibleinthenearfuture.
Thetemperatureatwhichtheturtleswillproducemaleorfemalebabiescanbe
passedontotheturtles'children.Mostseaturtlepopulationsarenowproducing
offspringabovethemostsuitabletemperature,makingitclearthatclimatechange
posesaseriousthreattothesurvivalofthesepopulations.
ThechiefexecutiveofWorldWildlifeFundAustralia,DermotO'Gorman,said
thisisanothersignoftheimpactofclimatechange,followingrecentresearchthat
showsthatcoralbleaching(珊瑚白化)eventsareoccurringfarmorefrequentlythanin
thepast.
