Studentsarecapableofdesigningapersonalizedweeklyclasstimetablebyapplyingthelearnedlanguageknowledge.TheycanintroducethecontentoftheirtimetableandexplainthereasonsinEnglishclearlyandfluently.

Throughgroupwork,studentscancommunicatetheirideas,dividetasksandcooperatewitheachother,thusimprovingtheirteamworkabilityandcommunicationskillsinEnglish.

Helpstudentsuseadjectivesaccuratelytodescribethedegreeofpreferencefordifferentsubjects,suchasusingcomparativeandsuperlativeformscorrectly.

Guidestudentstoorganizetheirlanguagelogicallywhenexpressingreasonsforlikingordislikingsubjects,andavoidChinese-Englishexpressions.

Ensurethateverystudentinthegroupactivelyparticipatesingroupworkandcontributestothecompletionoftheproject.

1.Warming-up

Greetthestudentsasusual.Then,showsomepicturesofstudentsindifferentclassesonthePPT,suchasamathclasswithnumbersontheblackboard,ascienceclassdoingexperiments,andanartclasswithpaintingsonthewall.

Askstudents:“Boysandgirls,lookatthesepictures.Canyoutellmewhatsubjectstheyarehaving?Andwhichoneisyourfavourite?”Encourageseveralstudentstoanswerthequestions.Forexample,astudentmayanswer:“Ithinkthefirstoneisamathclass.MyfavouritesubjectisPEbecauseIcanplaybasketballinPEclass.”

2.Revision

Reviewthevocabularyofsubjectslearnedbefore.Writethefirstletterofeachsubjectontheblackboard,like“m”for“math”,“s”for“science”etc.andaskstudentstoquicklysaythefullwords.

Reviewthekey.Invitetwostudentstocometothefrontoftheclass.Oneasks:“What’syourfavouritesubject?”andtheotheranswersaccordingtohis/herpreference.Thenletthemchangeroles.Afterthat,askmorepairsofstudentstopracticethedialogue.

3.Presentation

ShowthelearningobjectivesofthisclassonthePPT:“Today,wearegoingtodesignourownweeklyclasstimetablesandintroducethemtotheclass.First,let'slearnsomeusefulexpressions.”

Teachnewwordsandphrasesrelatedtotheproject.Forexample,“timetable”,explainitas“alistthatshowsthetimesatwhichparticulareventsaretohappen”.Writeitontheblackboardandaskstudentstoreaditseveraltimes.

Teachhowtoexpresstheorderofclasses.Writeontheblackboard:“thefirstclass,thesecondclass...thelastclass”.Letstudentsreadandremember.

Presentsomesamplesentencesaboutintroducingaclasstimetable,suchas“MyfirstclassonMondayisChinese.Ilikeitbecauseit'sinterestingandIcanlearnalotofbeautifulancientpoems.”Readthesentencesslowly,explainthegrammarandsentencestructure,andaskstudentstorepeat.

4.GroupWork

Dividethestudentsintogroupsoffourorfive.Giveeachgroupapieceofpaperandapen.

Instructthestudents:“Now,eachgroupdesignsaweeklyclasstimetable.Consideryourownpreferences,butalsomakeitreasonable.Youneedtofillinthesubjectsforeachclassofeveryday.Whenyouarediscussing,usethewordsandsentenceswelearnedjustnow.”

Walkaroundtheclassroom,listentothestudents'discussions,andofferhelpwhennecessary.Forexample,ifastudenthastroubleexpressinghis/heropinion,guidehim/hertousethecorrect.Ifagrouphasanargumentaboutwhichsubjecttoarrangeforacertainclass,helpthemreachanagreement.

5.Report

Afterthegroupsfinishdesigningtheirtimetables,askeachgrouptochoosearepresentativetocometothefrontoftheclassandintroducetheirgroup'stimetable.

Therepresentativeshouldsaysomethinglikethis:“Hello,everyone.Thisisourgroup'sweeklyclasstimetable.OnMonday,ourfirstclassisEnglish.WealllikeEnglishbecauseourEnglishteacherisverykindandfunny.Shealwaysmakestheclassinteresting...OnFriday,ourlastclassisPE.Wearealllookingforwardtoitbecausewecandosportsandrelax.”

Whiletherepresentativeisreporting,otherstudentsintheclasslistencarefully.Afterthereport,encouragethelisteningstudentstoaskquestionsiftheyhaveanydoubtsaboutthegroup'stimetable.Forexample,astudentmayask:“WhydoyouhavetwomathclassesonTuesday?”Andtherepresentativeofthegroupshouldanswerthequestion.

6.Evaluation

SetupsomeevaluationcriteriaonthePPT,suchas“correctuseofvocabularyand句型(30points)”,“reasonabledesignofthetimetable(30points)”,“clearandfluentintroduction(20points)”,“goodteamwork(20points)”.

Letthestudentsineachgroupevaluatetheirownperformancefirstaccordingtothecriteria,andthenothergroupsevaluatetheirperformance.Finally,theteachergivesacomprehensiveevaluation.

Forexample,forGroup1,theteachermaysay:“Group1,youusedthevocabularyand句型correctly.Yourtimetabledesignisquitereasonable,consideringbothinterestsandstudyneeds.Therepresentativeintroduceditclearly.Andfromyourdiscussionjustnow,Icanseethatyouhadgoodteamwork.So,yourtotalscoreis90points.”

Praisethegroupswithexcellentperformanceandgivesomesuggestionsforimprovementtothegroupswithrelativelylowscores.

7.Summary

Summarizethekeypointsofthisclasswiththestudents.Reviewthenewwordsandphraseslearnedinthisclass,suchas“timetable”andexpressionsaboutclassorder.
