differentspeedsandtraveldistances—fast-close(approachingthemonkeysfor10secondswhen
40metersawayataspeedof14.4km/hr),slow-close(approaching(hemonkeyfbr40seconds
when40metersawayataspeedof3.6km/hr),andslow-farconditions(approachingthemonkeys
for20secondswhen100metersawayataspeedof3.6krn/hr).
Theresultsshowedthatthemonkeysdisplayedstress-relatedbehaviorsforlongerin(he
fast-closeandslow-closeconditionsandalsoreducedfeedingasaresultoftheboatapproaching
inthefast-closecondition.Oncetheboatstartedtoapproachjheproboscismonkeysshowed
repeatedscratching(挠J蚤)andoftenmovedquicklybackwardstohideinthetrccs.Thiscould
