Thestudyalsopointedoutasignificantdefect.Previously,cooking-emittedVOCshadbeen

largelyoverlookedinVOCassessmentsastheyaredifficulttoidentifyamongthecomplex

mixtureofurbanpollutants.Theresearchersconfirmedtheirfindingsbydirectly·comparingthem

withkitchencookingexperiments,whichshowedstrongrelation.

“Thesefindingschallengethepreviouspracticeofsimplyemittingcookinggasoutdoorsto

protectindoorairquality,”thestudysuggests.“Moreeffectivemeasurestodealwithcooking

exhaustbeforeitisreleasedmaybenecessary.”
