My brother and I were not very excited when we realized what our mother meant. What she meant was not that we could take drawing classes or painting classes but that we would have to spend one afternoon a week with her at the Fine Arts Museum. Before each visit to the museum, she made us read about artists and painting styles. It was almost as bad as being in school. Who wants to spend the summer thinking about artists when you could be with your friends at the swimming pool?First we had to read about ancient Egyptians and their strange ways of painting faces and then go to look at them at the museum. My 12yearold brother thought this was so funny, but I was not interested. Later we had to learn about artists in the Middle Ages who painted people wearing strange long clothing. We had to look at pictures of fat babies with wings and curly (卷曲的) hair and with no clothes on flying around the edges of paintings. I certainly couldnt see what was so great about art.On our last visit to the museum, something happened when I saw a painting by a woman called Mary. In it, a woman was reading to a child. The colors were soft and gentle, and you could tell by the mothers expression how happy she was just to be with the child. I couldnt stop looking at this painting! I wanted to see every painting Mary had ever made! It was really worth looking at so many paintings to find a painter who could interest me so much.【解题导语】本文讲述的是作者小时候被妈妈带到艺术博物馆去了解艺术的经历。虽然作者是被迫去参观的,但是最后他却对艺术产生了兴趣。1The aim of the mothers plan was to _.A. take them to visit the museumB. introduce them to the world of artC. ask them to read about artistsD. show them different painting styles答案与解析:B考查细节理解。根据第一段的第一句“The summer I was ten, my mother decided to bring us to the world of art”可知答案为B。2What was the writers experience in the museum before the last visit?A. D, director of the New York Headache Center in Manhattan. There are a couple of theories on how it works.“Breaking a sweat may relieve stress,” says Dr. Mauskop. Headaches are often triggered by stress, and if you remove the trigger, you release the pain. The feelgood chemicals produced when you exercise actually block your pain sensors, acting as a natural painkiller.Since headaches can be caused by many different factors like genetics (遗传), lack of sleep, or certain foods, the cardio workout wont be the solution for everyone, Dr. Mauskop says. But one German study found that it helped 65 percent of patients, which makes it as effective as the best medicines on the market.Dr. Mauskop recommends his patients do a halfhour reasonable intenstily (强度) cardio workout, like jogging, biking, or swimming three times a week. These workouts are meant to be slow and steady, as opposed to highintensity intervals that alternate between allout runs and rest.Pushing yourself too much or increasing the intensity too quickly can trigger headaches in some people, so make sure your heart rate doesnt jump above 150 BPM. If you dont have a heart rate monitor, then breathe only through your nose. Youll know youre going too hard if you cant keep up that breathing pattern.Your migraines could start disappearing in a couple of weeks, Dr. Mauskop says.【解题导语】本文是一篇研究报告。研究人员发现,有氧锻炼也许能治疗偏头痛。5According to the passage, the author may agree that _.A. jogging, swimming and fishing are cardio workoutsB. neither cardio workouts nor topamirate has side effectsC. migraine patients may be cured by regular cardio workoutsD. cardio workouts will be the solution for everyone with migraines答案与解析:C考查细节理解。根据倒数第三段中的“Dr. Mauskop recommends his patients do a halfhour reasonable intensity (强度) cardio workout, like jogging, biking, or swimming three times a week”可知,A项错误;根据第四段的内容可知,B项错误,C项正确;根据倒数第四段中的“the cardio workout wont be the solution for everyone”可知,D项错误。6The underlined word “triggered” in Paragraph 7 can be replaced by “_”A. curedB. releasedC. caused D. monitored答案与解析:C考查词义猜测。根据上文的“Breaking a sweat may relieve stress”和画线词后的“by stress”可知,头疼往往是由压力引起的。由此可知画线词意为“引起”。故选C。7The feelgood chemicals produced can help regular headaches because _.A. they ease stressB. they help break a sweatC. they prevent migrainesD. they block your pain sensors答案与解析:D考查细节理解。根据第八段中的“The feelgood chemicals produced when you exercise actually block your pain sensors”可知,选D。8What would be the best title?A.
