会话是人物内心想法的体现。通过对小说中的人物对话进行会话含义分析， 可以帮助我们揭示作品中人物的性格。尽管文学作品中人物的语言是作者虚构 的，但它们也能够揭示人物的性格，因而作家们非常注重人物语言的虚构。因 此，从会话含义角度研究小说中的人物语言对于阐释作家独特的艺术魅力和更好 得理解小说都是非常必要的。 本文尝试运用会话含义理论对诺贝文学奖获得者赛珍珠的名著大地的人 物语言进行研究。作者随机选取了主要人物的3 1 段对话进行分析。通过分析， 主要有以下发现： 1 )小说中的人物由于违反或遵守量准则、质准则、关系准则以及方式准则， 产生了能够揭示人物性格的人物语言的会话含义。 2 )赛珍珠基于其自身在中国的经历虚构了小说的人物语言，进而成功塑造了 大地中的人物。 尽管本研究存在一些局限性，但却为大地的研究增添了一个新的视 角。 关键词：会话含义；大地；人物塑造
