中文提要 1 9 世纪末以来，西方艺术发生了巨大变化，特别是后印象派绘画的出现， 更是激起了当时社会的强烈反响。古典绘画的基础发生了动摇，艺术形式发生 了重要转折。2 0 世纪1 0 2 0 年代英国现代形式主义美学流派应运而生。其主要 代表包括英国著名的形式主义美学家、艺术评论家罗杰弗莱。 作为形式主义美学家，弗莱提出艺术是想象生活的表现，并且认为形式是 艺术最基本的性质，形式是艺术家在现实生活中某种情感经特殊解释后作用的 结果，形式和它所传达的情感是审美整体中不可分割的部分。基于这样的美学 观点，并结合对欧洲艺术的批评实践，弗莱逐步形成了他的形式主义艺术批评 观，即认为艺术的价值和本质在于作品本身的形式结构。他在批评中对于形式 的重视使他成为现代形式主义艺术批评的代表人物之一。弗莱以视觉感觉为基 点的批评具有很强的实验色彩，他相信人类艺术中存在一些共同品质，期望在 非欧洲艺术中能够找到人类审美活动的共同规律，以此验证他的形式主义的艺 术批评观。于是当弗莱在西方艺术中建立了有表现力的形式观念后，便将注意 力转向非欧洲的艺术，尤其是非洲、波斯、中国和日本艺术。其中对中国艺术 的理解和鉴赏就是在这样一种批评背景之下产生的。 本文论述了弗莱如何从视觉艺术领域出发，依据其形式主义艺术批评标准， 对中国艺术作品进行解读。文中以弗莱为建构中西艺术交流和借鉴的平台为出 发点，从艺术的形式入手，对中西艺术家的创作手法进行了比较和分析。旨在 根据中西艺术形式相似的特点，重新认识中国艺术。弗莱对中国艺术的解读既 是应用其批评标准进行的审美实践过程，又是在实践过程中检验和反思这一批 评标准的理论验证过程。 关键词：罗杰弗莱形式主义视觉艺术艺术批评标准中国艺术 a b s t r a c t t h el a t en i n e t e e n t ha n de a r l yt w e n t i e t hc e n t u r i e sw i t n e s s e ds t r i k i n gs h i f t si nt h e a r tw o r l d t h ea d v e n to ft h ep o s t -
