Learning Strategies: (1) Pre-reading, while -reading, post-reading(2) Fast reading &careful reading4. Emotional Aims: To enable students to behave politely in public places, and to follow the etiquette in different culture and situations教学重点1. Understand the passage correctly2. Key phrases 教学难点Write a good polite letter to complain about something教学工具1 .a blackboard2. a mobile phone3 .a tape recorder教学过程反思Step1. Greetings&lead-inT: Good morning, boys and girls. Today I will give you a class .I am (introduce myself) Nice to meet you, would you mind telling me your names?S:(some students tell me their names)T: It is a good rule of etiquette to say hello and introduce myself when we meet for the first time. Would you mind my talking on the phone in the classroom?(teacher is talking on the phone) S: Yes, you had better not. T: Why?S: We want to study in the classroom.T: Yes , because I break the rule of etiquette. You will be angry. In our life ,if someone break the rule of etiquette, we will get annoyed. Today we will talk about etiquette.Step2 .pre-readingLook at the picture on the book and discuss it Where are they? They are on the bus. Are you happy if you are on the bus?why?No ,because they break the rule of etiquette. What are they doing?The girl is eating and dropping litter. The fat man is talking loudly on the phone. The thin man is smoking .The boy is coughing and sneezing. The two women is talking loudly. What should you say? If you say, “Hey guy, no smoking!” “Stopping talking!” You order him, maybe they will be angry and fight with you, so we should be careful in complaining and in a polite way. Lets read a passage “Would you mind keeping your voice down?”Ask students to read the new words.Ask students to read the reading strategy on page58.As we read,we need to find topic sentences. Topic sentence is a main idea of a paragraph. It helps us to understand the ideas of a paragraph. It often appears in the first sentence or the last sentence of a paragraph. More details come after the topic sentence. Summary is also the main idea but we can use our own words to summarize it.Step3.While-reading1. Fast readingAsk students read quickly to find the topic sentences of each paragragh and do 3a on page 59.Check the answers.
