顶点的代表作。小说一面世，就在英国引起了强烈的反响，引起批评界特别是女性主义利后 殖民主义批评家的高度重视，也受到广大读者的一致好评。世界文坛由此掀起了一股“里斯 热”，其势头至今不衰。里斯本人也因此书获得当年英国皇家文学会奖和w h 史密斯文学 奖。藻海无边受到如此重视和好评的主要原因是里斯在这部小说中改写了文学名著 简爱中罗切斯特的疯妻子这个角色。简爱中被剥夺话语权的疯女人，在藻海 无边中被赋予了安托瓦内特( a n t o i n e t t e ) 的新身份，以安托瓦内特( 以下简称安) 的视角 来透视这场婚姻的悲剧。她的声音揭露并颠覆了父权制和殖民主义价值观，揭露了殖民主义 对j 大黑人和白人殖民者的后裔带来的痛苦、愤恨和人格扭曲，揭示了安托瓦内特，亦即伯 莎梅森的不幸命运是买卖婚姻和残暴的英国殖民者的罪恶所造成的这一本质。由于简- 里
