江苏省泗阳中学2013届高三“艺体类”专项复习:阅读专题四教学素材:in the 1960s, medical researchers thomas holmes and richard rahe developed a checklist of stressful events. they appreciated the tricky point that any major change can be stressful. bad events like serious illness of a family member were high on the list, but so were some helpful life-changing events like marriage. when you take the holmes-rahe test you must remember that the score does not show how you deal with stress it only shows how much you have to deal with. and we now know that the way you deal with these events dramatically (戏剧性的) affects your chances of staying healthy. by the early 1970s, hundreds of similar studies had followed holmes and rahe. and millions of americans who work and live under stress worried over the reports. somehow the research got boiled down to a memorable message. womens magazines ran titles like stress causes illness. if you want to stay physically and mentally healthy the articles said avoid stressful events. but such simplistic advice is impossible to follow. even if stressful events are dangerous , many like the death of a loved one are impossible to avoid. moreover, any warning to avoid all stressful events is a prescription (处方) for staying away from chances as well as trouble. since any change can be stressful, a person who wanted to be completely free of stress would never marry, have a child, take a new job or move. the idea that all stress makes you sick also takes no notice of a lot of what we know about people. it supposes we re all vulnerable and not active in the face of the difficult situation. but what about human ability and creativity? many come through periods of stress with more physical and mental strength than they had before. we also know that a long time without change or challenge can lead to boredom and physical and mental pressure. 1. the result of holmes-rahes medical research tells us _. a. the way you deal with major events may cause stress b. what should be done to avoid stress c. what kind of event would cause stress d. how to deal with sudden changes in life2. the studies on stress in the early 1970s led to _. a. popular avoidance of stressful jobs b. great fear over the mental disorderc. a careful research into stress-related illnesses d. widespread worry about its harmful effects3. the score of the holmes-rahe test shows _.a. how you can deal with life-changing events b. how helpful events can change your lifec. how stressful a major event can be d. how much pressure you are under4. why is “such simplistic advice” (line 1, paragraph 3) impossible to follow? a. no one can stay on the same job for long. b. no prescription is effective in reducing stress.c. people have to get married someday. d. you could be missing chances as well.5. according to the passage people who have experienced ups and downs may become _.a. nervous when faced with difficulties b. physically and mentally tiredc. more able to deal with difficulties d. cold toward what happens to them教学步骤:(一)例题感悟 本文主要论述压力的产生及人人都不应该逃避压力。 文章中有“millions of americans who work and live under stress worried over the reports”,表明这一阶段的研究给人带来更多的是担扰,并且从一些杂志用的标题上都可以显示出来。3d。推理判断题。根据文章第二自然段中“it only shows how much you have to deal”只是表明你承受多大程度的压力”可知。4b。 (三)基础与巩固训练the china daily newspaper group is looking for english-language senior business editors, senior copy editors, copy editors and graphic designers to strengthen its international team. we offer a competitive salary package, free accommodation with utilities paid for, 90 per cent medical reimbursement, a seven-day paid leave, eleven-day public holidays and a return ticket to the country of residence.senior business editoryou must:assist the business editor in setting goals and working on achieving them;be an excellent team person who can generate ideas and think creatively and be able to rewrite totally if needed and mentor junior staff;ideally have been working or have worked in a position of responsibility and understand what leadership entails;have had at least five years editing experience working on editing the business desk and be familiar with industry software.senior copy editoryou must:work on shifts in the business desk and usually have the last word before the page is sent to print;edit or rewrite copy and give snappy headlines and captions;have had at least two years editing experience working on editing desks and be familiar with industry software.copy editoryou must:be good at editing or rewriting copy and writing snappy headlines and captions;be able to work on shifts for different pages, and usually have the last word before the page is sent to print;have two years of editing experience working on copy desks, and be familiar with industry software.graphic designeryou must:have excellent skills in information graphics;be good at illustrations and freehand drawings;be experienced in newspaper or magazine layouts;have a good sense of typography;have good news judgment;be well-versed with macintosh software, including indesign, illustrator and photoshop;be fluent in english.for enquiries or to apply, write to job .1what is the purpose of this passage?ato describe the positions of the china daily newspaper group.bto describe the working conditions of the china daily newspaper group.cto advertise for recruiting some good employees.dto tell you how to become part of this group.2what is not required about graphic designer?abe well-versed with photoshop.bhave excellent skills in information graphics.chaving a good sense of typography.dwriting snappy headlines and captions.3how many positions need editing experience?a2. b1. c3. d4.4which can be the title of the advertisement?achina daily:new employees wantedbchina daily:newspapercchina daily:an international teamdchina daily:the best working condition5which of the following is true according to the passage?afree accommodations are available to the workers.bthe workers t
