Roys StoryToday, its my honor to stand here and share my lesson with you. My illustration mainly includes five aspects: teaching material, teaching students, teaching aims, teaching method and teaching procedures. The teaching procedure is the most important part.The passage is selected form Module 3 of optional book 6. The topic of this module is about the interpersonal relationshipfriendship. The reading part is the most important part. Through the story between the author Daniel and his friend Roy, it shows the problem of them to cultivate students attitudes towards the friendship and how to keep friends. Most of the students have already mastered some integrating skills, while, their reading strategies, especially the ability of summarizing and retelling the text still needs improving. The teaching aim of this class contains the knowledge aim: to master some useful words and expressions through the text; the ability aim: to enhance the reading skills such as predicting the content ,skimming, finding the details and summarizing the main idea; the emotion aim: to cultivate the proper attitude towards the friendship and solve the similar problems in their own life.This class adopts the students-centered approach, task-based method and communicative method.Teaching procedures. It mainly includes 5steps. Leading in, pre-reading, while-reading, post-reading, and homework. The while-reading is divided into the fast-reading and detailed-reading.Show students a short piece of music. Then Ill ask them “ Do you like this music?”, “ whats about it?”.Show students the title and the picture. Ask them to predict the content of the passage. Ask them questions based on the title and picture. The students will give their own answers about the questions. The while reading part. The 1st part is the fast- reading. The task for them is just to number the paragraph. Let students read the passage quickly and match the main idea for each part In this detail-reading part, to answer the questions, they need to read the passage again carefully and underline the useful information in their opinion. I design two tasks to help them grasp the detailed information. The 1st task is to answer the questions. The second task is to finish the multi-choice and the true or false questions one by one.After the detail-reading, it is the post-reading part. Now please help Daniel to solve the dilemma. Suppose you were Daniel, in that situation, what would you do? Why? Students in groups discuss an end for the passage. The last part is the homework.
