Unit 7 How much are these socks? (Section A 1a-2d)Hello,everyone.Im Fang Chune from Chengdong School,Ruichang.Im honored to have a chance to share my teaching ideas with you.Today Im going to present my teaching plan for the first period of Unit 7 from Go for it Grade 7.The topic of this unit is about shopping.My presentation is about the first period which is from part 1a to part 2d.I will say the lesson from six parts.Part One: Analysing teaching material.The topic of this unit is shopping,in this period,the students will learn the words about clothes and how to ask and answer the prices.After the study of this unit,the students will know how to be a polite shopper in an English way.Status and function:This period is the first period of Unit 7 which is talking about shopping.Its close to the students daily life and many students are interested in shopping,but they know little about it.So this period is very important to the unit.The students will learn the key sentences and their oral ability will be trained. Part Two: Analysing students.The students in Grade 7 are curious but worried and shy ,so I think it is important to encourage them to think and solve the problems.Part Three: Teaching aims and demands.1. Knowledge aims:(1).Learn the words about clothes , colors and sizes. (2).Sentence patterns:How much is this T-shirt? It is seven dollars. How much are these socks? Theyre two dollars.(3).Conversations about shopping. 2.Ability aims: Enable the students to talk about clothes and the prices with how much and to be a polite shopper in an English way. 3.Emotion aims:The content of this unit is close to the students life,so it will attract students easily and inspire them to fall interest in learning English.Let students know their love in clothes and shop wisely.Part Four: Teaching keys and difficulties.1.Learn the words about clothes and make clear about the singular words and plural words .2.Learn to use the questions and answers led by how much.3.Learn to use the manner diction about going shopping.Part Five: Teaching and studying methods.I use student-centered,task-based,co-operation teaching and studying methods to deal with the material.Part Six: Teaching procedures.Step 1.Leading in.1.Play an English song “Color Song” to review the colors .2.Play a video“Clothes Show.”3.I ask students to guess what we will study today. “Yes,we will talk about shopping today. (write the title on the blackboard) I went shopping last Saturday,what did I buy?Look at me.(a black sweater,black trousers,red shoes)”.Then I ask:“Do you like shopping? Lets go to Jennys Clothes Store.” Purpose: This step is to create a relaxing environment for students and review the colors.Step 2. PresentationNew words.Teach the new words about money and clothes by using pictures in multimedia (I add:scarf)and ask the students to read them after me ,pay attention to the spellings and these plural words: trousers. shorts, socks, shoes.Purpose: Teaching new words by using a multimedia can make the students master the new words easily.Step 3. A guess game.Review the new words through a game and ask students to rush to say them one by one,then give some awards to the best ones.Purpose: Review new words by adding clothes to the cartoon characters to check the students mastery situation,giving awards attracts students interest in learning. Step 4.Part 1a.1.Ask students to match the words with the things in the pictures and then check the answers.2.Ask students to look at the pictures and discuss how to ask the prices in pairs.3.I explain how to use the sentences“How much is? How much are?”4. Ask the students to read the chant to review the key sentences .Purpose:Let students themselves discover and discuss how to ask the prices by using how much to bring out initiative of the students. Step 5.Listening. 1.Ask students to listen and circle the things they hear in the picture in 1a.2.Listen again,check the answers and ask students to record the prices.3.let students role-play the conversations.4.Look at the picture and complete the conversations.Purpose: This activity can practice the students listening skills and make them review the key words.Step 6.Go shopping. Divide the class into four big groups ,then take four students as a small group ,let the students take out the clothes that they bring from home and the price tags prepared in advance to go shopping in groups. Then choose one group from each big group to compete,choose the best group to add points.Purpose: This step is used to create a half real shopping scene for students and make them learn to ask the prices in daily life.Step7.Listening.1.Show some pictures and review the words about colors.2.Listen and repeat the words in 2a,learn the new words:big,small,short,long.3.Ask students to listen to the conversations in 2b and circle the things they hear.4.Listen again and check the answers.5.Play the recording again and ask the students to fill in the price tags in 2c.6.Check the answers and repeat the dialogue.Purpose: This part is to train the students listening skills and review the key sentences.Step 8.Pairwork. 1.Ask students to make conversations using the information in 2b in pairs.(The teacher adds some shopping terms:Can I help you?Yes,please.I need/want) 2.Ask several pairs to present their conversations and choose the best.Purpose: This step is used to train the students oral ability and develop their cooperative ability.Step 9.Make a survey.Students will work in groups and ask the colors and prices of their group members clothes. How much is /are ?nameclothescolorspricesJimWe divide the class into four groups , choose a student from each group to give a report like this:Jim is my friend. He has a T-shirt.Its black. Its ten dollarsthen choose the best one to add points.Purpose: This activity can improve the students speaking and writing skills. Summarize the points of each group and choose the best one to give some awards. Emotion education: Its difficult for parents to make money. We should save money. Summary:Ask students to summarize what we learned today. Step 10 Homework. 1.Review and memorize th
