Prepare for the class 1. some pictures 2. some vocabulary cards 3. audiotape and the tape recorder Class period 1课时 Teaching steps Step 1.Organizing the teaching 1 .Greetings 2.Sing an English song “Copy Me Do” Step 2. Revision a. Lead a question-and-answer dill to practice the structure “What time is it? Its _ oclock.” b. Play the game “Spell It” to review the following words “bathroom” “kitchen” “living room” and “bedroom”. c. Play “Look and guess” to review the words of food. He stays with Jennys family and experiences Canadian schooling , food and culture .He also teaches Jennys family about Chinese culture .Step 3.Key concepts: 1.Listen and fill in the blanks.2.Introduce: a. Demonstrate “stove” “refrigerator” “dishes” and “sink” with large vocabulary cards. b. Match the words with other words the students know. For example: T: What is hot? Is the refrigerator hot S: No. T: Right? Is a stove hot? S: Yes. A stove is hot. c. Translate “make” and “cook”. Note that “cook” always implies heating food. 2.Student book : a. Review the story so far. Li Ming has come to Canada to stay with Jennys family. He is at Jennys house. Look at the pictures in the student book. What are they doing now? b. Note “mine ”and “yours” in the lesson. c. Play the audiotape as the student follow in their books. 3.Practice: Divide the class into small groups. Ask each group to make up a dialogue about making a meal in a kitchen Step4 Check for understanding .Exercise: 1 Time , it ,is ,what 2 Dishes ,the, wash, in, we ,sink 3 Breakfast, time, for 4 Like, what ,breakf
