Countries Shes five years old. Learning Strategies: Using what you know Inferring contentTeaching plan:Step One: This class is used to teach new words and expressions. I will divide the new words into several small groups,like the following:Animals: koala , tiger, elephant, dolphin, panda lion, penguin, , giraffe Adjectives that defines or limits the animal: cute, smart, ugly, clever, friendly, beautiful, shy, lazy, relax. Places: zoo, south, Africa, Others : map, box, bingo, other, grass sleep, during, leaf, meat Then I will teach the words group by group, especially the vowel sounds. At last I will teach the uses of some words. Step Two : This class is used to teach the Grammar in this unit. 1 Lets see the pandas first. Let sb. do sth- 让某人干某事,也可表达“提建议”。 Let 后面的动词用原形。 如:Lets have a rest. Lets =Let us. (Lets 包括说话者和听话者;Let us 用来表示请求,即说话者向听话者请求要去做某事。 Exercises: 1. 首先 让我们 看看 熊猫。 First lets see the pandas. 2. 我们 踢球吧。 Lets play football. 3妈妈,( 星期天) 让 我们 看 电视。 Mom, on Sundays Let us watch TV 2Why do you like koalas?Because they are kind of interesting.Kind of =a little Example: Why do you like giraffes? Because they are kind of cute. 3. Where are lions from? They are from South Africa. Be from =come from South Africa 是专有名词,两词的首字母都要大写。 “在南非”用介词in 在英语中,多个地名和时间同时出现,其顺序为从小到大,如:Beijing China 中国北京;at six in the morning 早晨六点。 Example: This is my new pen pal. Shes from Australia./ She comes from Australia. I go to school at seven in the morning. He lives in Sydney Australia.4. What other animals do you like?I like dogs, too.Too , also, either 都表示 “也”,但他们的位置不一样:also放在主语的后面,实义动词的前面,be 动词、情态动词、系动词的后面。如:I also like dogs.Either 用在否定句的句尾,用逗号与前句隔开。如:I dont like tiger, either.Exercises:1. This part is very easy . let students finish it by themselves.1b: listen and check the animals in 1a you hear. The answers are panda, giraffe. Penguin.1c: It is an oral practice. Eg: A: Lets see the lions. B: Why do you want to see the lions? A: Because theyre cute. Let students practice the dialogue above using the description words given in 1c . Ask studnts to work in pairs. Have them take turns saying both parts. Then ask some pairs of students to present their conversations to the class.2a: This activity provides listening practice using the target language. The answers are: 1. koalas 2.dolphin 1. koalas-cute 2. dolphins-interesting2b: The answers are: 1.koalas, koalas, very, dolphins, dolphins, kind of2c: Pairwork :Ask students practice the conversation as usual. Example: S: Do you like penguins? T: Yes, I do. S: Why? T: Because they are very cute.Grammar Focus: Review the grammar box. Ask students to say the questions and answers. Let students pay attention to the underlined words. Why do you like ? Why does he like?3a: This part provides reading practice using the target language. The answers are: China-panda Australia-koalas South Africa-lion3b: Oral practice. Where are lions from? Lions are from South Africa. Ask students practice the conversation above ,using the animals and countries in 3a.4: Listening and writing : Ask Ss to read the answers aloud.Step Four: Section B:1 Match the description words with the animals according to the pictures.The answers are: 1-b, 2-h, 3-g, 4-e, 5-d, 6-f, 7-c, 8-a.2 Listen and circle the description words you hear in 1. The answers are: clever, ugly, cute, beautiful, shy .3. Listen again . What words do they use to describe the animals? Fill in the chart.This activity provides oral practice using the target language.Call attention to the dialogue next to the picture. Ask two students to read it to the class.Ask students to work in pairs. Use sentences like the dialogue next to the picture in students book.Ask some pairs of students to present their conversations to the class.3a. Read the descriptions and match them with the animals. The answers are: 1. elephant (b) 2. panda (d) 3. koalas (c)3b. Look at the lion in 3a. Then fill in the blanks with the words in the box. The answers are: 1. This 2. Africa 3. years 4. eats 5. lazy 6. sleeps 3c. Write a description of another animal . Ask students to write their own descriptions following the examples in 3a and 3b. Ask students to share their writing with others in the class.4. Group workThis activity provides oral and listening practice with the target language.Ask students to get into groups of four. Say, You will take turns reading your description from 3c to your group.
