At first they talked happily .About ten minutes later , the mother crab suddenly noticed her son was walking strangely. ”my child , why do you walk so awkwardlyin a one-sided way?” she said to her son surprise.“ If you wise to make a good appearance and look great, you should go straight forward instead of walking to one side as you do so constantly. That is so awkward!” “Exactly, I do wish to make a good appearance, Mamma,” said the young crab, “but I do not know the right way to walk .” If you will show me how , I will try to walk straight forward.” “Why , this is the way, of course,” said the mother ,as he started off to the right . ” No , this is the way ,” said she, as she made another attempt, to the left . No matter how the mother tried , she could not walk straight forward even for half a minute . Then the mother crab gave up and walked in her usual way. Here is how the story goes . At an Indian fair there was a merchant who had a elephant for sale .he saw an American , who was examining it with very great care ,walking round and round it ,putting his head on one side ,taking in everything .the merchant felt very strange .”he might have found out the blemish!” he thought to himself ,so he went up to the American ,”dont say anything about the elephant till I have sold it, and I give you a present.” “All right” agreed the American surprised. After the elephant was sold ,the merchant gave him one-tenth of the price he had got for it , and said:” now tell me how you found out that blemish on the left foreleg of the elephant. I thought it was quite concealed , and nobody would find it out .” “Blemish?” said the American ,surprised again .”I never found blemish on it .” “Then ,why did you examine the elephant so closely?” asked the merchant . Because I have never seen an elephant before ,and I wanted very much to see what it was like ,” said the American .what facial expression do you think the merchant would have when he heard the Americans words .Track 009A Strange Visitor The story happened in a railroad station in a far inland part of India . the railroad passed through a wild jungle full of wild birds and beasts .
