C Reading is thought to be a kind of conversation between the reader and the text . The reader puts questions , as it were, to the text and gets answers . In the light of these he puts further questions , and so on . For most of time this “ conversation ” goes on below the level of consciousness(意识). At times , however , we know it . This is usually when we are running into difficulties , when mismatch is happening between expectations and meaning . When successful matching is being experienced our questioning of the text continues at the unconscious level . Different people deal with the text differently . Some stay very close to the words on the page ; others take off imaginatively from the words , translating , criticizing , analyzing(分析), and examining . The former represents a kind of comprehension which is written in the text . The latter represents higher levels of comprehension . The balance between these is important , especially for advanced readers . There is another conversation which from our point of view is equally important , and that has not to do with what is read but with how it is read . We call this a “ process ” conversation just opposites a “ content ” conversation . It is concerned(与有关系) not with meaning but with the ways we use in reading . If we are an advanced(高级的)reader our ability to hold a content conversation with a text is usually pretty well-developed . It is not our ability that holds a process conversation . It is just this kind of conversation that is of importance when we are seeking to develop our reading to meet the new demands being placed upon us by studying at a higher level . 59. Reading as a kind of conversation between the reader and the text becomes conscious only when . A. the reader has trouble understanding what the writer says B. the readers expectation agree with what is said in the text C. the reader asks questions and gets answers D. the reader understands a text very well 60. At a lower level of comprehension , readers always mean to . A. read a text slowly B. read without thinking hard C. translate a text in their own way D. pay attention to the meaning of words only 61. According to the writer , is of great importance for readers . A. lower and higher levels of comprehension B. the readers expectations and the meaning of a text C. conscious and unconscious levels of comprehension D. translating and criticizing a text 62. If we want to develop our reading ability at an advanced level , we should . A. pay more attention to the content of a text B. make our reading process more conscious C. learn to use different ways in reading different texts D. take a critical(批评的)attitude towards the writers ideas D “ Regardless of social class , race , age , men say they hate shop , ” says Zukin , City University of New York sociology professor . “ Yet when you ask them deeper questions , it turns out that they like to shop . Men generally like to shop for books , music and hardware . But if you ask them about the shopping they do for books or music , theyll say , Well , thats not shopping . Thats research . ” In other words , what men and women call “ buying things ” and how they approach that task are different . Women will wander through several 1,000-square-meter stores in search of the perfect party dress . Men will wander through 100 Internet sites in search of the perfect digital camcorder(摄录像一体机). Women see shopping as a social event . Men see it as a special task or a game to be won . “ Men are frequently shopping to win , ” says Ann , a marketing professor at Loyola University of Chicago . “ They want to get the best deal . They want to get the best one , the latest one and if they do that it makes them happy . ” When women shop , “ theyre doing it in a way that they want everybody to be very happy , ” says Ann . “ Theyre kind of shopping for love . ” “ Teenage girls learn to shop from their moms and older sisters , but they also learn to shop by examining articles in magazines like Seventeen , ” City University Zukin says . “ And although mens magazines such as GQ and Esquire have long had shopping articles , its TV that has the eye of young male shoppers , says Ann and Zukin . ” “ Television shows are used by young men in the same way Seventeen magazine or Lucky are used by girls , ” says Zukin , “ to help make clothing and toiletry(化妆品)choices . ” “ Of course , there are men who love to shop and are proud of it , ” Loyolas Ann says . And that is important no matter whether you buy a car or a frying pan . All men love to buy but dont want to get cheated . Ann adds , “ There actually are men who are interested , for example , in cooking or shopping or chinaware or things around the home- they become kind of girl magnets . Women like it . ” 63.
