ThegeneralconferenceoftheUnitedNationsEducational,ScientificandCulturalOrganization(UNESCO)adoptedthe“ConventionConcerningtheProtectionoftheWorldCulturalandNaturalHeritage”onthe16ofNovember,1972.Theconventionhasbeensignedby145statesincludingChinasincethen.From1978whenthefirstlistofworldculturalheritagepropertieswereissuedtilljuliesof2004,Chinahad30propertiesinscribedontheworldheritagelist.ThefollowinglististhedistributionofthepropertiesinprovinceswithinChina:1972年10月16日联合国教科文组织全会通过了《保护世界文化和自然遗产公约》，包括中国在内的缔约国迄今已达145个。从1978年公布第一批世界文化遗产的名单起，截至2004年7月中国已有30项列入世界文化和自然遗产目录。各省分布如下：中国的世界文化和自然遗产

遗产种类有文化遗产、自然遗产和文化、自然双重遗产。列入《世界遗产名录》的文化遗产．称为世界文化遗产。
