Herstoryendedinmysterywhenshedisappearedwithoutatrace(踪迹)duringaflightoverthePacificOcean.TheoriesaboutwhathappenedtoEarhartwereproposed(提出),butnothingwaseverconfirmed(确认)–untilnow.AstudypublishedinMarchconductedbyRichardJantzfromtheUniversityofTennessee,US,determinedthatbonesfoundin1940onaremotePacificislandbelongedtoEarhart.
Followingthediscovery,theworld’smemoriesofthelegendary(传奇的)femalepilotwerebroughtbacktolife.
Earhartwasbornin1897.Whenshewasyoung,shewasveryinterestedinstoriesaboutwomenwhoweresuccessfulinmale-dominated(男性为主的)professions,suchasengineeringandlaw.
Butin1920,Earhart’slifechangedafterherfirstexperienceofbeingaplanepassenger.Assoonastheplanelefttheground,Earhartknewthatshelovedflying,soshefoundherselfateacherandstartedtolearnhowtoflyforherself.Topayforthelessonsandbuyaplaneofherown,shetookallsortsofjobs.
In1932,Earhartflewsolo(独自地)acrosstheAtlantic,becomingthefirstwomanevertodoso.Shealsodesignedaflyingsuitforwomenandwentontodesignotherclothesforwomenwholedactivelives.
Whenshewasnearly40,Earhartwasreadyforafinalchallenge–tobethefirstwomantoflyaroundtheworld.Herfirstattemptwasunsuccessfulbutshetriedagainin1937,withhernavigator(领航员)FredNoonan.Butonemonthlater,theydisappearedinbadweatherinmid-flight.
