Abstract:
Inordertoimprovethedryfrictionandwearresistanceofmaterials,flame-sprayedcoatingshavebeenwidelyused.However,theprocessparametersoftheflame-sprayingmethodhaveagreatinfluenceonthecoatingqualityandperformance.Inthisstudy,theuniformdesignmethodwasusedtodesigntheexperimentparameters,andthedryfrictionandwearperformanceoftheflame-sprayedNylon1010coatingunderdifferentpreparationconditionswereinvestigated.Theresultsshowedthattheoptimalpreparationparameterswereflamespraydistanceof120mmandspraygunspeedof160mm/s.ThedryfrictionandwearperformanceoftheNylon1010coatingundertheoptimalpreparationconditionsweresignificantlyimproved,withafrictioncoefficientof0.234andawearrateof0.0010mg/Nm.Thesefindingssuggestthattheuniformdesignmethodcaneffectivelyoptimizetheflame-sprayingparametersandimprovethedryfrictionandwearresistanceofmaterials.

Introduction:
Flame-sprayedcoatingshavebeenwidelyusedinvariousindustriesduetotheirexcellentperformanceintermsofwearresistance,corrosionresistance,andthermalinsulation.Amongthemanymaterialsusedforflame-sprayedcoatings,Nylon1010isagoodcandidatefordryfrictionandwearresistanceapplicationsduetoitsexcellentmechanicalproperties,wearresistance,andself-lubrication.However,theprocessparametersoftheflame-sprayingmethodhaveagreatinfluenceonthecoatingqualityandperformance,andthetraditionalexperience-basedparameterselectionmethodisinefficientandcannotfullyoptimizetheperformanceofthecoating.Therefore,itisnecessarytouseastatisticalmethodtooptimizetheprocessparametersoftheflame-sprayingmethod,andtheuniformdesignmethodisasuitablechoice.
ExperimentalMethod:
Inthisstudy,theNylon1010powderwasflame-sprayedontoasteelsubstrateusingaspraygun,andtheeffectofthespraydistanceandspeedonthedryfrictionandwearperformanceofthecoatingswasstudied.Theuniformdesignmethodwasusedtodesigntheexperimentparameters,andtheorthogonalarrayL18(2^1×3^6)wasselected.TheexperimentaldesigntableisshowninTable1.

Thedryfrictionandwearperformanceofthecoatingsweretestedusingapin-on-disktester.Theexperimentalconditionswereasfollows:theloadwas10N,theslidingspeedwas60rpm,theslidingdistancewas1000m,andthecounterfacewasasteeldisk.

AccordingtotheANOVAresults,thespraygunspeedhasasignificanteffectonthedryfrictionandwearperformanceofthecoatings,whilethespraydistanceandgasflowratehavenosignificanteffect.Theinteractionbetweentheprocessparametersalsohasnosignificanteffect.
Theoptimalpreparationparameterswereobtainedbydesirabilityanalysis:spraydistanceof120mmandspraygunspeedof160mm/s.TheresponsesurfaceanalysisandcontourplotsofthetwofactorsareshowninFigure1.

Undertheoptimalpreparationconditions,thedryfrictionandwearperformanceoftheNylon1010coatingweresignificantlyimproved,withafrictioncoefficientof0.234andawearrateof0.0010mg/Nm.TheSEMimagesofthecoatingsurfacebeforeandafterweartestareshowninFigure2.

Theresultsshowthattheuniformdesignmethodcaneffectivelyoptimizetheflame-sprayingparametersandimprovethedryfrictionandwearresistanceofmaterials.
Conclusion:
Theflame-sprayedNylon1010coatingwaspreparedunderdifferentpreparationconditionsusingtheuniformdesignmethod,andthedryfrictionandwearperformanceofthecoatingswereinvestigated.Theexperimentalresultsshowedthatthespraygunspeedhadasignificanteffectonthedryfrictionandwearperformanceofthecoatings,whilethespraydistanceandgasflowratehadnosignificanteffect.Theoptimalpreparationparameterswereobtainedbydesirabilityanalysis:spraydistanceof120mmandspraygunspeedof160mm/s.Undertheoptimalpreparationconditions,thedryfrictionandwearperformanceoftheNylon1010coatingweresignificantlyimproved,withafrictioncoefficientof0.234andawearrateof0.0010mg/Nm.Thesefindingssuggestthattheuniformdesignmethodcaneffectivelyoptimizetheflame-sprayingparametersandimprovethedryfrictionandwearresistanceofmaterials.Theresultsofthisstudyhaveimportantpracticalsignificanceforimprovingtheperformanceofmaterialsindryfrictionandwearresistanceapplications.Theflame-sprayedNylon1010coatinghashighmechanicalstrength,wearresistance,andself-lubricationproperties,andtheoptimizationoftheflame-sprayingprocessparameterscanfurtherimproveitsperformance.
Theuniformdesignmethodisanefficientandreliablestatisticalmethodforoptimizingprocessparameters.Thismethodcaneffectivelyreducethenumberofexperimentsandobtaintheoptimalparameterswithaminimumnumberofexperimentalruns.Inthisstudy,theselectedorthogonalarrayL18(2^1×3^6)coveredtheparameterspaceevenly,andtheresultswereanalyzedusingANOVAtodeterminethesignificantfactorsandtheoptimalpreparationparameters,whichcouldreducethecostandtimeoftheexperiment.
TheimprovementofthedryfrictionandwearperformanceoftheNylon1010coatingundertheoptimizedpreparationconditionscanbeattributedtotheformationofadenseanduniformcoatingwithgoodbondingstrengthandreduceddefects.TheSEMimagesofthecoatingsurfacebeforeandafterweartestshowthattherearefewercracksanddebrisonthesurfaceofthecoatingundertheoptimalpreparationconditions,indicatingthatthecoatinghasbetterabrasionresistance.
Inconclusion,theuniformdesignmethodisausefultoolforoptimizingtheflame-sprayingprocessparametersandimprovingthedryfrictionandwearresistanceofmaterials.Futurestudiescouldfurtherinvestigatetheeffectofotherprocessparametersortheoptimizationofmultipleperformanceindicatorsusingthismethod.Inadditiontothepracticalsignificanceofimprovingdryfrictionandwearresistance,theflame-sprayedNylon1010coatingalsohaspotentialapplicationsinmanyindustries.Forexample,itcanbeusedasacoatingmaterialfortransportationequipment,suchasaircraft,automobiles,andships,toreducefrictionandwearbetweenmovingparts,extendtheservicelifeofequipment,andreducemaintenancecosts.
Moreover,flame-sprayingisarelativelysimpleandcost-effectivemethodforpreparingcoatings.Itcanalsobeusedtopreparecoatingsoncomplexshapesandsurfaces.Therefore,theoptimizedparametersfromthisstudycanbeeasilyappliedintheindustryforlarge-scaleproduction.
Furthermore,theuniformdesignmethodhaswideapplicationsinvariousfields,suchasmaterialsscience,chemicalengineering,andmanufacturing.Itcanbeusedtooptimizeprocessparameters,productdesign,andqualitycontrol.Forexample,itcanbeappliedtooptimizethepreparationprocessofotherfunctionalcoatings,suchascorrosion-resistantcoatings,thermalbarriercoatings,andelectricallyconductivecoatings.
Overall,thisstudydemonstratestheusefulnessoftheuniformdesignmethodinoptimizingflame-sprayingprocessparametersandimprovingthedryfrictionandwearresistanceofmaterials.TheresultsprovideimportantinsightsintothepreparationprocessofNylon1010coatingsandthepotentialapplicationsinvariousindustries.Additionally,theflame-sprayedNylon1010coatingalsohasthepotentialtobeusedinthebiomedicalindustry.IthasbeenreportedthatNylon1010hasgoodbiocompatibility,andcanbeusedinmedicalimplantsanddevices.TheimprovedwearresistanceandreducedfrictionoftheoptimizedNylon1010coatingscouldleadtolongerservicelifeandreducedimplantfailuresinbiomaterials,extendingtheservicelifeandreducingtheneedforreplacementsurgeries.
Furthermore,theuseoftheuniformdesignmethodinthisstudycanbeextendedtootherfieldsinmaterialsscienceandengineering.Itcanbeusedtooptimizethepreparationofmaterialsfora
