hasitcharacteristicmeritsanddemerits,weadjustourstandardofvaluesso
astomakeoutthatthemeritspossessedbyournationarethereallyimportant
ones,whileitsdemeritsarecomparativelytrivial.Here,again,therational
manwilladmitthatthequestionisonetowhichthereisnodemonstrably
rightanswer.Itismoredifficulttodealwiththeself-esteemofmanasman,
