inthenowextinctJudaeo-Portugueselanguage,andthoughthesourceofthedyewastracedbacktoaplant,no

namewasmentioned.

However,bypiecingtogethersuggestionsfromthetext,thescientistswereabletodeterminethatthedyewas

madefromthebluish-greenberriesofthechrozophoratinctoriaplant.Afteranextensivesearch,theteamfounda

fewvarietiesoftheplantgrowingalongtheroadsidenearthetownofMonsarazinsouthPortugal.
