1、Unit 5 Nelson Mandela a modern heroUnit 5, from the perspective of a young black man named Elias, tells a story about Nelson Mandela from whom we could learn what he had done for the blacks rights and further sorts out some qualities a great person is supposed to have. From Mandelas experience, this
2、 unit tries to guide students to learn or cultivate themselves those great personalities like Mandela and other great men, tries to give hands to those classmates and friends who are in troubles around them and to be a warm-hearted man in this world. Totally, along with period 1 Warming up and speak
3、ing, this unit mainly concerns five parts according to the theme, contents, teaching objectives and the whole teaching procedures. Firstly, as far as Im concerned, we should absorb students attentions from the rest time. At the beginning
9、of class, I want to talk something interesting to them, which may attracts their minds, such as discussing the man you like best, which has some bearing with the topic of this unit, great men. 10、d he do anything for others?3. What are/were his or her best qualities? Step 2 Think it over1. Give a brief description of one of your favorite persons. What kind of qualities you are lacking to be an ideal one? In this step, teachers should demand stud
13、ents to write their answers on the paper. Students are required to try their best to do it. As for some difficult words, they are allowed to check dictionary or to ask teacher. It is an open discussed, all answers relating to the topic are permitted. It is certain that teachers have to check most of
