How I Learned to Learn English 我是如何学会学英语的 Last year, I did not like my English class. Every class was like a bad dream. The teacher spoke too quickly. But I was afraid to ask questions because my pronunciation was very bad. So I just hid behind my textbook and never said anything. 去年,我不喜爱英语这门功课。每节英语课如同一场噩梦,因为老师说话太快了。但是, 我又害怕提问,因为我的发音相当糟糕。所以,我只好躲在课本后面一言不发。 Then one day I watched an English movie called Toy Story. I fell in love with this exciting and funny movie! So then I began to watch other English movies as well. Although I could not understand everything the characters said, their body language and the expressions on their faces helped me to get the meaning. I also realized I could get the meaning by listening for just the key words. My pronunciation also improved by listening to the interesting conversations in English movies. I discovered that listening to something you are interested in is the secret to language learning. I also learned useful sentences like “Its a piece of cake” or “It serves you right.” I did not understand these sentences at first. But because I wanted to understand the story, I looked up the words in a dictionary. 后来有一天,我看了一部叫玩具总动员的英语电影。我一下就喜欢上了这部动人心弦 而又妙趣横生的影片!于是,我就开始观看其他英语电影。虽然我无法理解角色所说的所 有台词,但是他们的肢体语言和面部表情帮我理解了其中的意思。我还认识到,只需听懂 关键词就能会意。通过听英语影片中有趣的对话,我的发音也大有改善。我发现,听感兴 趣的材料就是语言学习的秘诀。我还学会了一些有用的句子,例如“Its a piece of cake 小菜一碟,小事一桩,易如反掌” , “It serves you right你真活该,罪有应得” 。起初我 并不理解这些句子。但是我想要理解这个故事,就在字典中查询了这些词语。 Now I really enjoy my English class. I want to learn new words and more grammar. Then I can have a better understanding of English movies. 现在我真的很喜欢英语课了。我希望学习生词和更多语法,这样就能更透彻地理解英语电 影。 Read the passage quickly. Good learners often connect what they need to learn with something they are interested in. For example, if they need to learn English and USING DICTIONARIES查阅字典 This can help you find the definition that matches the context of the word in the text. 查阅字典可以帮你找到词语在课 文中字里行间的确切含义。 they like music or sports, they can listen to English songs or watch sports programs in English. This way they will not get bored. 研究表明,如果你对某事感兴趣,你的大脑就会更活跃,并且更容易长时间集中精力。学 霸常常将他们要学的内容与感兴趣的事物联系起来。例如,他们要学英语并且爱好音乐或 体育运动,就会听听英语歌,看看英文体育频道。这样就不会感到枯燥。 Practicing and learning from mistakes 多练习,多总结错误 Good learners think about what they are good at and what they need to practice more. You have to know how to study. Good learners find out the best ways to learn well. For example, they may take notes by writing down key words or by drawing mind maps. They may do this by reading their notes every day or by explaining the information to another student. 学习光靠努力是不够的,还必须知道学习方法。学霸致力于找到最好的学习方法,例如用 笔记下关键词或绘制思维导图。学霸也会寻求温习所学知识的好方法。他们可能会每天看 看笔记,或者向别人讲述自己所学。 Asking questions 提问题 Good learners often ask questions during or after class.
