内容摘要 纳撒尼尔霍桑是十九世纪美国文学史上最具影响力的浪漫主 义作家之一。小说红字的诞生，成为美国文学进程中的重要一步， 同时使他永葆文坛盛誉。小说以十七世纪清教徒统治下的美国波士顿 为背景，引入了“通奸”这一社会敏感话题，以女主人公海丝特通奸 被发现、受罚为线索，并对以海丝特为代表的女性人物的内心世界及 命运展开探索。霍桑挥洒了大量笔墨刻画了海斯特为争取自由幸福而
