英汉文化道歉语比较研究 一一一一 学科专业：英语语言文学 指导教师：刘家荣教授 内容摘要 研究方向：语言学与现代英语 研究生：胡晓 在研究道歉语行为时，可能会出现一种错觉，人们或许会将“道歉”视为极其 简单的言语行为，认为“对不起”、“请原谅”等足以构成“道歉”的全部事实。实 际上“道歉”是一个很复杂的言语现象。例如：在什么情形下( 比如冒犯程度等) 采 用何种道歉方略( a p o l o g ys t r a t e g i e s ) ? 怎样对别人的道歉进行反应( r e s p o n s e s ) ? 中、 英文化对待冒犯有何不同的道歉方式? 此言语行为的实施还涉及其它诸多方面， 如此行为和社会因素的关系等等。同其它言语行为一样，道歉行为在不同的文化中 有其独特的规律，文化差异涉及到此行为的方方面面。本文对中、英文化道歉行为 惯用的公式或方略和引起道歉的冒犯进行了分类，并对道歉行为涉及的方略进行了 跨文化的比较和分析，旨在揭示蕴涵其中的文化价值，以期能引起大家，尤其是外 语学习者对文化差异的重视，并证明文化价值在言语行为中起着不可忽视的作用。 还有一点需指出的是，在道歉行为方面，学英语者不自觉的进行语用迁移也是较为 明显的现象，如学习英语的中国学生，对“i ms o r r y ”，“e x c u s e m e ”，“ia p o l o g i z e 道 歉方略等不能区分，所以很容易造成语用失误，影响交际，所以成功的交际不单单 是语言能力( 语法、单词) 的掌握所能实现的，更重要的是要掌握目的语国家的文 化规则、社会规范和价值取向等。 交际能力( c o m m u n i c a t i v ec o m p e t e n c e ) 这一概念自h y m e s ( 1 9 7 2 ) 提出后，近 年来在语言教学界己得到广泛接受。它是语言使用者所具有的在交际过程中根据社 交背景恰当使用和理解语言的一种直觉能力。语言教学的一个重要目标就是使学习 者获得交际能力。在英语教学过程中，教师应当使学生能够正确使用英语进行有效 和得体的交际。在与以英语为母语的的人交往过程中，学生由于缺乏跨文化差异意 识常常犯错误。因此，在英语教学中有必要重视跨文化差异，以减少交际失误，避 免人际冲突，从而提高学生对跨文化差异的认识和敏感性，最终提高其跨文化交际 内容摘要 v 能力。 全文共分六章。第四章和第五章是以数据分析为依据对中英道歉语的异同点进 行文化分析。英语数据分别来自于o w e n 和h o l m e s ，汉语数据源于两个调查表 ( q u e s t i o n n a i r e ) 。两个调查表的受试者均是作者所在工作单位的5 0 名学生。所设计 的情境旨在调查汉语中的道歉情况，使其与英语数据进行对比。 第一章主要论述了本文写作的必要性和重要性。阐明了本项研究的理论基础、 研究方法。基于此，论文将对英、汉文化道歉言语行为进行对比研究，并简略说明 了结构安排。 第二章主要讨论了道歉言语行为与文化的关系。学习一种语言离不开该语言所 在的文化。所以，首先对文化与语言进行了界定，语言是文化的载体，文化决定语 言，对两者的研究缺一不可。道歉语作为一种言语行为反映社会文化价值观念。 第三章对道歉语的结构特征和功能进行了描述。道歉语因其句法词汇具有可预 见性而被称为会话客套语，并且道歉语及其反应方略又是典型的相邻对。道歉是一 种礼貌策略，旨在维护受者甚至是双方的“面子( f a c e ) ”，以期保持良好的社会关 系而非传递指示信息。 第四章分析了英、汉文化道歉言语行为在句法、词汇层和道歉方略分布上的异 同点。从对六种引发道歉的冒犯的归纳中得出两种文化间的差异导致对冒犯的不同 理解，道歉方略的社会分布更是突显英汉文化差异。 第五章重点对特定语境下的礼貌方略进行深层次的英、汉文化对比分析。分析 发现，英语中对言外之力指示装置( i f i d s ) 的使用更偏爱表示遗憾的“i ms o r r y ”。 在汉语中最常使用的是“对不起”：英语中常使用减轻责任方略，汉语中多使用自
