山东大学硕十学位论文 摘要 作为一个黑人女作家，莫里森一直关注着黑人的生存状况。她在1 9 8 7 年创作了 力作宠儿。在书中，所有的人物都必须面对他们的过去，而且这些一直缠绕着他 们。宠儿一经问世，便广受追捧和关注。许多读者和评论家分别从不同角度研究 和探讨过这部作品。但研究角度多放在“叙述视角 ，“叙述视角的转换 ，“记忆 重现 ，“言语和权利关系”以及“内心独白上，很少有人关注这部作品中的哥特 手法，唯有湖南师范大学的杨玲教授在发表在和田师范专科学校学报上的文章“论 宠儿中的母爱与女性 中提到了女性哥特的阐释。 、 哥特式小说以其独特震撼人心的力量揭示社会问题，表达理想，吸引着许多的读 者，并最终使人们意识到社会的黑暗和罪恶，从中去感受文学特有的魅力。宠儿 通过闹鬼和死人还魂等怪诞情节，用虚幻与真实，怪异与正常，扭曲人物的手法来突 出黑人悲惨的遭遇，使作品具有更深刻的思想内涵和强大的震撼力。为了找出作品中 哥特因素的表现，为了发现运用哥特手法的原因，为了分析哥特手法在表现黑人悲惨 经历时是如何发挥作用以及重要意义，我选择这个研究课题。 宠儿是一部阐述奴隶制对奴隶身心影响的真实描述。书中主人公塞斯，在奴 隶制已经废除了多年后，仍然受到过去奴隶生活的侵袭，生活在恐惧当中。十八年前， 塞斯亲手杀死了自己的孩子，为的是能让自己的孩子免受奴隶制之苦。从那以后，她 一直生活在痛苦之中。莫里森通过对奴隶制对书中人物身心摧残的描写，深刻的表达 出了奴隶制的毒害。 第一章主要研究了宠儿中哥特式手法以及哥特式手法在作品中的表现。哥特 式手法通常被白人作家使用在他们的作品中，常常被用来描述一些无法言语的东西， 例如家族秘密的揭示，与鬼魂的接触等。但是，身为一位黑人作家的莫里森发现，黑 人在本领域没有发言权。在广泛受到了哥特的影响下，并被学术界黑人言论的缺失而 激怒的情况下，莫里森熟练的运用了哥特手法揭示了奴隶占有制对奴隶身份建立的损 害以及对其心灵的长久伤害。 第二章主要研究了哥特式手法在文中的作用。在这部作品中，每个主要人物，如
