摘要语码转换是在句段或语篇中交替使用两种或两种以上语言的现象。自二十世纪六十年代以来，关于外语教学课堂中能否使用母语的讨论就没有停止过。支持课堂语码转换的学者认为适时适量地使用母语会促进外语学习。而提倡浸入式教学的学者认为，教师在课堂上使用母语会对学生的外语学习造成障碍，且呼声越来越高。国内外许多实证研究发现，为确保教学的正常进行，多数教师会采用语码转换，通过母语辅助教学。本文研究中国大学英语课堂教学中教师的语码转换问题，旨在剖析中国英语课堂教学中教师语码转换的具体现状、学生对教师课堂语码转换的态度和期待程度，进而利用语用学的顺应理论探讨语码转换的生成。本研究综合运用定量和定性的研究方法，采用语音记录、与教师座谈和对学生进行问卷调查的方式，对河北省石家庄市某高校六名英语专业和非英语专业教师精读课堂教学中的语码转换使用情况进行了调查。语音记录和调查问卷显示六名教师在英语课堂教学中均有语码转换。而同一教师在课堂教学的不同方面如词汇教学、语法讲解、课堂组织、文化背景讲解、语言技巧传授、课文讲解等方面使用母语情况也存在差异。问卷就2 4 5 名学生对教师在课堂上使用英汉语码转换策略所持的态度和看法进行了调查，结果表明9 0 以上的学生赞同教师的语码转换。但学生理想中的语码转换情况与教师语码转换的使用现状出现不一致，4 7 9 的学生认为教师可以“偶尔 使用汉语，而认为教师可以“经常 或“有时 使用汉语的学生人数减少。学生认为教师在课堂上使用语码转换的频率偏高。在语法讲解和语言技巧培养方面，学生对教师使用汉语显示出更高的期待。通过对语音记录的分析和与教师的座谈，我们发现教师在课堂上采用语码转换策略是为了顺应学生的学习情况，从而接近或达到某个或某些具体的教学目的。语码转换是为了顺应语言现实，弥补英汉语义范畴的差异，保持所传授知识的真实性；语码转换顺应社会规约，即教师在社会中为人师表的社会角色和课堂上所扮演的不同角色如评价者、参与者、组织者等，为学生树立学习的榜样和保持课堂教学的顺利进行；语码转换顺应教师的心理动机，如为营造某种课堂气氛、促进学生理解、强调、提高课堂效率等。这些方面的顺应均以达到最佳的教学效果为目标，体现了以学生为中心的教学模式。v l基于以上的发现我们可以看出适量的语码转换在外语课堂教学中是必要的，是促进英语课堂教学的一种有效策略，是顺应学生学习情况的体现。同时教师应慎重考虑自己的语言选择，提高语码转换意识，根据学生的需要及时调整语码转换的数量、频率和语境，切忌过度使用汉语。教学管理人员在制定教学指导方针时也要根据自身状况和学生的需求制定选择适合自己的教学方法。关键词：语码转换，顺应，语言现实，社会规约，动机v i ia b s t r a c tc o d e s w i t c h i n gi st h ea l t e m a t eu s eo ft w oo rm o r el a n g u a g e si nt h es a m eu t t e r a n c eo rc o n v e r s a t i o n s i n c et h e19 6 0 s 。d i s c u s s i o n so nw h e t h e rn a t i v el a n g u a g ec a nb eu s e di nf o r e i g i ll a n g u a g et e a c h i n gh a v en e v e rs t o p p e d t h es c h o l a r sw h of a v o rc o d e s w i t c h i n gi nc l a s s r o o mt h i n kt h a tt h er e l a t i v en a t i v el a n g u a g eu s ei ns p e c i f i ct i m ew i l lf a c i l i t a t ef o r e i g nl a n g u a g et e a c h i n ga n dl e a m i n g ；w h i l et h es c h o l a r sw h ol i k et h ei m m e r s i o na p p r o a c hh o l dt h a tn a t i v el a n g u a g eu s ec a nb eab a r r i e rt ol a n g u a g el e a r n i n g t h ee m p i r i c a ls t u d i e sh a v ef o u n dt h a tt oe n s u r et h es m o o t hi n t e r a c t i o n ，m o s tt e a c h e r ss w i t c hc o d e si nc l a s sa n dh e l pt e a c h i n gi nn a t i v el a n g u a g e t h e r e f o r e ，t oe n r i c ht h er e l e v a n tl i t e r a t u r e ，t h ep r e s e n tr e s e a r c hs t u d ya i m st oe x p l o r et e a c h e r s c o d e -
