摘要 学术论文写作要求运用规范的语言形式以力求内容客观真实，但其写 作中的一个重要策略是谨慎语言的使用，在英语中，常用h e d g e 或h e d g i n g 来 表达这种语言形式的运用。对写作和言语交际中的h e d g e 和h e d g i n g 现象，汉 语至今尚无被学术界广泛认可的译名，国内有些学者称其为模糊限制语或 者模糊限定修饰语，也有的将其称为遁言。英汉语言学词汇中将h e d g e 解释为遁言，强调其保留性。本文从这层含义出发，将其译为“遁言”来 表达这一语言现象。作为学术论文中的常用策略，遁言能体现作者对命题 和读者的态度，减弱话语的绝对性，避免过于主观，给作者和读者留下讨 论的余地，同时也体现了作者对科学的态度和对同行的尊重，从而加大被 认可的机会。 摘要作为学术论文的缩影，可以帮助读者尽快地了解文章的主要内容， 在科研文献急骤增加的信息时代，英语摘要已成为国际学术交流中传递信 息的重要方式，并为科技文献检索系统( 如s c i ，e l ，i s t p 等) 收录提供方便， 因此其质量的好坏直接影响科研成果在世界范围内的传播和交流。为了了 解以汉语为母语和以英语为母语的研究者们在二语习得和外语教学论文英 语摘要中使用遁言词汇的情况，本研究以v a r t t a l a ( 2 0 0 1 ) 对遁言词汇的分 类为理论基础，通过两个自建的语料库，即作者以汉语为母语的和以英语 为母语的作者所写的关于二语习得领域的学术论文英语摘要的语料库( c n s c o r p u s 和e n sc o r p u s ) ，利用s p s s ( 17 o ) 统计分析软件分析两个语料库里 遁言的使用数量和种类。 研究统计发现，英语本族语学者与中国学者在遁言的使用倾向上存在 一定相似性，均在英文摘要中大量使用遁言，且倾向于使用名词、形容词 类遁言词汇。副词类的遁言词汇用得较少。然而，两组学者在对遁言的使 用方面仍然存在较大差异，在遁言的使用数量和频率方面，中国学者要低 于英美学者，并且两者在遁言的使用类别上也有所差异，中国作者对遁言 词汇的使用种类上比英语本族语作者少。本研究认为缺乏遁言使用意识、 母语迁移的影响、遁言本身的复杂性、英语词汇的习得顺序等是影响遁言 使用的因素。针对这些差异及影响因素，本文对英语写作教学提出了一些 建议，期望能够在英语写作教学中提高中国英语学习者遁言使用的意识以 及在论文写作中恰当运用遁言的能力，并希望对英语教学有一定的借鉴意 义。 本论文包括六部分：第一部分是引言部分；第二部分是文献综述，对 前人的研究成果及遁言的相关知识作了概述；语料收集和研究方法在第三 部分予以说明；第四部分对两个语料库中的遁言使用情况进行了对比分析，
