the 1960s,” david kamp, a us contributing editor for vanity fair, wrote in a recent article about the birth of bond and its influence on the us.the bond phenomenon has clearly affected movie culture, pop culture and spy culture. but perhaps the most amazing thing is that 007 has survived in the age of feminism(女权主义). “talking of objectifying women, bond is essential huge henfner (founder of playboy magazine) with a gun,” movie critic xan brooks told the guardian. “but women liked bond, too. he couldnt have run for 50 years with male fans alone.”we love bond for many reasonsafter all 50 years, bond is still breathtaking. thrilling ride into the very heart of an icon like no other. but most of all, we may love him for one reason: “he always gets away with it.” one success, for possible answers. however, the answers provided by japanese preschools are not the ones americans expected to find. in most japanese preschools, surprisingly little emphasis is put on academic instruction. in one survey, 300 japanese and 210 american preschool teachers, child development specialists, and parents were asked about various aspects of early childhood education. only 2 percent of the japanese respondents (答问卷者)listed “to give children a good start academically” as one of their top three reasons for a society to have preschools. in contrast, over half the american respondents chose this as one of their top three choices. to prepare children for successful careers in the first grade and beyond, japanese preschools do not teach reading, writing, and mathematics, but rather skills such as determination, concentration, and the ability to work as a member of a group. the huge majority of young japanese children are taught to read at home by their parents. like in america, there is diversity (多样性)in japanese early childhood education. some japanese kindergartens have specific aims, such as early musical training or potential development. in large cities, some kindergartens are attached to universities that have elementary and secondary schools. some japanese parents believe that if their young children attend a university-based program, it will increase the childrens chances of eventually being admitted to top-rated (一流的)schools and universities. several more progressive programs have introduced free play as a way out for the heavy intellectualizing (智能化)in some japanese kindergartens. 1. we learn from the first paragraph that many americans believe_.a. japanese parents are more involved in preschool education than american parents b. japans economic success is a result of its scientific achievements c. japanese preschool education emphasizes academic instruction d. japans higher education is superior to theirs 2. in japans preschool education, the focus is on_.a. preparing children academicallyb. developing childrens artistic interests c. developing childrens potentiald. shaping childrens character 3. why do some japanese parents send their children to university-based kindergartens? a. they can do better in their future studies. b. they can make more group experience grow there. c. they can be self-centered when they grow up. d. they can have better chances of getting a top-rated education. 4. free play has been introduced in some japanese kindergartens in order to_.a. broaden childrens knowledgeb. train childrens creativityc. lighten childrens study loadd. enrich childrens experience【参考答案】23.cddc 较难题目特训:介绍说明类-24阅读下面短文,掌握其大意,从每题所给的a、b、c、d四个选项中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。education is an expensive part of american life. its size is matched by its variety. differences in american schools compared with those found in the majority of other countries lie in the fact that education here has long been intended for everyone. schools are expected to meet the needs of every child, regardless of ability, and also the needs of society itself. this means that public schools offer more than academic subjects. it surprises many people when they come here to find high schools offering such courses as typing, sewing, radio repair, computer programming and driver training, along with traditional academic subjects such as mathematics, history, and languages. students choose their courses depending on their interests, future goals, and level of ability. the basic goal of american education is to develop every child to the utmost of his or her own possibilities, and to give each one a sense of community. schools have traditionally played an important role in creating national unity and “americanizing”the millions of immigrants who have poured into this country from many different backgrounds and origins. schools still play a large role in the community, especially in the small towns. the teaching may seem unfamiliar to many, not only because it is informal, but also because there is not much emphasis on learning facts. instead, americans try to teach their children to think for themselves and to develop their own intellectual and creative abilities. students spend much time learning how to use materials, libraries, statistics, and computers. americans believe that if children are taught to reason well and to research well, they will be able to find whatever facts they need throughout the rest of their lives. knowing how to solve problems is considered more important than the accumulation ( 积累)of facts. this is americas answer to the searching question that thoughtful parents all over the world are asking themselves in the fast-moving time, “how can one prepare todays child for a tomorrow that one can neither predict nor understand?”1. the underlined words“reason well”probably mean _.a. persuade firmlyb. list the reasons clearlyc. think logically d. conclude immediately2. it is implied in the passage that _.a. all high-school students take the same coursesb. every student must take practical ability training coursesc. every public school offers the same academic subjectsd. the subjects every student takes may vary3. american schools place great emphasis on the learners_.a. knowledgeb. accumulation of factsc. creativityd. ability to work with hands4. what makes american education different from others? a. the large number of schools. b. the variety of the courses.c. its consideration for immigrants. d. the basic goal of education.【参考答案】24.cdcd 阅读理解-while andrew was getting ready for work one friday morning, he announced to his wife that he had finally decided to ask his boss for a salary raise. all day andrew felt nervous and anxious as he thought about the upcoming showdown. what if mr. larchmont refused to grant his request? andrew had worked so hard in the last 18 months and landed some great accounts for braer and hopkins advertising agency. of course, he deserved a wage increase. the thought of walking into larchmonts office left andrew weak in the knees. late in the afternoon he was finally courageous enough to approach his superior. to his delight and surprise, the ever-frugal(一向节俭的)harvey larchmont agreed to give andrew a raise! andrew arrived home that eveningdespite breaking all city and state speed limitsto a beautiful table set with their best china, and candles lit. his wife, tina, had prepared a delicate meal including his favorite dishes. immediately he figured someone from the office had tipped her off! next to his plate andrew found a beautiful lettered note. it was from his wife. it read: “congratulations, my love! i knew youd get the raise! i prepared this dinner to show just how much i love you. i am so proud of your accomplishments!” he read it and stopped to reflect on how sensitive and caring tina was. after dinner, andrew was on his way to the kitchen to get dessert when he observed that a second card had slipped out of tinas pocket onto the floor. he bent forward to pick it up. it read: “dont worry about not getting the raise! you do deserve one! you are a wonderful provider and i prepared this dinner to show you just how much i love you even though you did not get the increase.” suddenly tears swelled in andrews eyes. total acceptance! tinas support for him was not conditional upon his success at work. the fear of rejection is often softened and we can undergo almost any setback or rejection when we know someone loves us regardless of our success or failure.【文章大意】本文叙述了andrew周五决定向老板要求加薪。 21. what was andrews plan
