Unit3 A taste of English humourReading: A master of nonverbal humour教学设计省丹中 于若洋Step Presentation导入(6mins)T: Hello, everyone!Im so happy to be here with you. Today, well talk about humour. First of all , Id like to show you some pictures. (1)Do you know who they are?Students: Feng Gong, Zhao Benshan, Zhou Xing chi , Xiao Shenyang.Some famous Chinese comedians(喜剧演员) (2) What do they have in common?Students: All of them usually make people laugh.Teacher: If someone often makes others laugh, we say he is humorous or he has a sense of humor. Usually we use words to make people laugh. This kind of humour is called verbal humour. But sometimes we only use body language and facial expressions to make people laugh. This kind of humour is called nonverbal humour. Here are two great British comedians of English nonverbal humour.(Show the students two pictures)Picture oneTeacher: Who is he?Students: Mr BeanTeacher: Mr Bean is famous for mime(模仿). He makes funny faces and seems quite stupid. The things he does are strange. He is a great actor of nonverbalhumour. Picture two Teacher: Who is he?Students: Charlie ChaplinTeacher: Charlie Chaplin makes people laugh when they feel unhappy and brightens the lives of people. He is really A Master of Nonverbal Humour. Have you ever watched their movies? Ok, lets enjoy two movies from Mr. Bean and Charlie Chaplin设计意图:本环节的主要目的是引出话题,激发兴趣。俗话说,“良好的开端是成功的一半”。好的导入扣人心弦,极大地激发学生的学习兴趣,为下一环节的教学做好良好的铺垫。我先向学生展示一些中国著名幽默人物的图片,让学生说出他们的名字,学生兴趣浓厚,课堂气氛热烈。我让学生说出他们的共同之处,即都是具有幽默感的人,给人们带来欢乐。接着给学生介绍两位外国无声幽默大师憨豆先生和查理卓别林。同时让学生欣赏了两位幽默大师的影片片段,引发他们学习的兴趣,并引出本文的标题A Master of Nonverbal Humour,为课文的进一步学习做了铺垫。Step Fast reading 泛读(8mins)T:Now its time to do fast reading. Before reading, lets go through some new words to help you better understand the passage while reading. 1. New words or phrases生词moustache: a line of hair that grows on a mans upper liphomeless: poor having no home performer: a person who performs for audience badly off : poorworn-out: be no longer useful; be badly damaged outstanding: excellent astonishing: surprising very muchcontent: satisfied and happy overcome: succeed in solving a problemtramp: a person who is homeless and has no money2. Questions问答T: Now please go though the passage quickly and finish the task.(1) Which of the following information about Charlie Chaplin is mentioned in the passage?Charlies parents () Charlies wife () Charlies childhood () Charlies character () Charlies film () Charlies hobby () Charlies costume () Charlies children () Charlies books () Charlies type of acting () (2) What does the little tramp acted by Charlie Chaplin look like?T: Well done! In the passage, the appearance of a poor little tramp is mentioned. Do you still remember what he looks like? Here I have a picture of the little tramp acted by Charlie Chaplin. Ill invite some students to choose the correct sentences describing his appearance to read out. Lets describe him from his head.Teacher: What kind of hat did he wear? Students: He wore a small round black hat. Teacher: Was he a poor man with a moustache?Students: Yes. He was a poor, homeless man with a moustache.Teacher: What about his trousers?Students: He wore large trousers.Teacher: What kind of shoes did he wear?Students: He wore worn-out shoes. Teacher: What did he carry when he walked around?Students: He carried a walking stick. The little tramp, a poor, homeless man with a moustache, wore a small round black hat, large trousers and worn-out shoes carrying a walking stick. 设计意图: 本环节的主要任务是突破生词,训练学生的泛读能力,在有限的时间内捕捉文章大意并查找特定的信息。我列出本文出现的几个重点生词并用英语解释,训练学生克服母语的干扰并学会用英语思维。然后给学生提供一些信息,让学生快速阅读课文,判断这些信息在文章中是否被提到,目的是训练学生迅速捕捉正确信息的能力。最后是一个互动活动。当全体学生从头到脚口头描述小流浪的外貌特征时,我选择对应的部分图画。全体学生描述完后,一幅完整的小流浪汉图画就呈现在了学生面前。该活动既增强了学生的动手能力,激发了学生的学习兴趣,又锻炼了学生的口头表达能力,是新课程理念的体现。Step Careful reading精读(20mins)1. Main idea段落大意T: Everyone, how many paragraphs are there in this passage? Yes, 5 paragraphs. Now please read the passage again and choose the most suitable heading from AF for each paragraph. ( F )设计意图: 此部分让学生精读课文。精读分为两个环节:选择段落标题和对错练习。本文共五段,我设置了六个段落标题,其中一个是多余的。我要求学生为每段选择最合适的标题,这锻炼了学生的总结归纳能力和对全文整体理解的能力,也与高考的阅读要求一致。对错练习考查了学生对文章细节的理解。整个教学过程体现了素质教育的全体性,由浅入深、由易到难、由表及里的阅读理解练习能给不同程度的同学提供体验成功乐趣的机会,能调动全体学生参与的积极性。Step Post-reading 读后活动(时间:10分钟)1. Summary小结Charlie Chaplin was born in a poor family in 1889. When he was a child, his father died leaving the family worse off. By his teens, he had become a popular child actor in England. As time went by, his film character, the little tramp and the film such as the Gold Rush became known all over the world. In 1972 he got a special Oscar. He spent his last years in Switzerland and died in 1977. Charlie Chaplin is loved and remembered as a master of nonverbal humour.设计意图: 本文是一篇人物传记,有较清晰的时间线索。文章是按照时间的先后顺序来写作的,即记叙了卓别林的出生、成长,到最后的成名过程。该部分以完形填空形式呈现文章的小结,目的是要求学生根据时间轴对文章内容进行填空,可提高学生对文章的综合理解能力,也是对文章的一次整体回顾。2. Discussion讨论(小组合作学习)Please discuss the following question in groups of four: What can we learn from Charlie Chaplin after you learn about his life? Students: No matter what difficulties we meet with, we should be confident and optimistic. We should set up a goal, try our best and never give up, just as Charlie Chaplin was. 设计意图:小组合作学习,培养学生的交际能力,回顾所学的知识。3.
