They can understand some words and some past verbs. The students have taken a great interest in English now. But they still havent mastered the past verbs and they are shy in speaking English, especially telling their personal things. So I should prepare well enough so as to motivate students to express themselves.Learner PreparationStudents are supposed to preview the diaries before.Teaching AidsPowerPoint, multi-mediaTeaching ProcedureStepsPurposeStep 1 Greetings (1 min) Greet the class as usual.Step 2 Warming up and lead-in (5 mins)1. Teacher will ask some questions, Can you remember these words? Check the new words in 2a. 2. Show some pictures. Think about what they did? Did they have a trip? Try to solve some language points.T: Where did you go last weekend?S: I visited ./I went toT: How did you feel about the trip? S: It was +adj /adjStep 3 Presentation for reading (2b) (23mins) 1) Fast Reading & Listen to the tape and read after it. Read the passage with the following questions.Q1: Did Helen and Jim go on the same trip?Q2:How do they feel about the trip?2) Check the answersRead by themselves and find the answers. And ask students to show his or her answer. Ss answer the questions correctly. T shows the right answers.S1: Yes, they did.(Q1)S2: Helen thought the trip was great, but Jim didnt like the trip at all. (Q2)3) Careful Reading Show another five questions about the first article. Read the letters again and find out the answers. The teacher shows the importance on the blackboard. Q1: Where did Helen visit? Q2: How did Helen get there? Q3: What did the guide teach Helen to do? Q4: Did she take a lot of photos? Q5: What else did Helen do?4) Check the answersStudents still read by themselves and find the answers. After two minutes ask students show the answers and translate together. T shows the right answers.S1: She visited the science museum.Teacher correct the pronunciation and help the student make the answer perfect.T: She visited the science museum. (Then teacher reads and students follow)S2: She got there so fast by train.(Q2)S3: The guide taught her how to make a robot.S4: Yes,she did.S5: She went to the gift shop and bought some lovely gifts for her parents.5) Then teacher will show another five important questions. 1.It was very cool on the fast train.
