1、WORD式-专业学习资料-可编辑新概念英语其实就用了这么些词新概念英语第一册词频分析及其对教学的启示一、第一册单词词频统计情况小编之前跟大家分享了英语词汇的教与学，最近小编利用 一个叫做ROST的词频统计分析软件，把新概念英语第一 册和第二册的课文进行了词频统计分析，看了统计结果之后， 发现了不少有意思的地方，这些发现即便对于我这样教了十几 年的新概念英语的老师来说，也还是很有启发意义的。先来看看第一册的词频统计分析情况吧。第一册总共144 课，每2课一个单元，单课为新课，双课为新课的巩固和拓展。 从词汇运用的角度来看，常用的核心词汇基本都出现在单课的 课文里，因此小编在统计分析词频时，没有把

2、双课的内容做统 计。有兴趣的朋友可以自己再用软件去做汇总分析。小编把第一册的全部72篇单课课文汇集到一个文档里， 包含每篇课文的标题，经软件初次统计分析之后，结果是：单 词总量为7156个，不同的单词数为1111个，去除27个停 用单词（stopword ,主要是指在搜索引擎中为了提高搜索速 度、减轻网页空间压力而忽略的单词，这类词往往使用频率很 高，去除之之后对于文档的意义和理解影响又不大）后不同的 单词数为1084个；其中，缩略形式也忽略不计的，如can' t、 He' s、You' ll、We' re 等。因为软件本身的局限性（比如不分大小写、不区分同一单

3、 词的不同形式等），这1084个单词其实还需要进一步的筛选。 比如，这些词中有不少人名或机构名称，都可以忽略；还有一 些单词，其实是同一单词的不同形式，软件把这些词都算作不 同的单词。为此，小编又手工对这些单词进行了归并筛选，归 并筛选的几条原则是：1、人名、地名、机构名恢复首字母大写，并且归为一类；2、同一动词的不同形式归并为一个单词， 但会加备注，把 该动词在第一册里出现的各种形式都罗列出来，如 do、did、 does、doing ；3、名词的单数和复数形式都归并为一个单数形式；4、如果几个词根相同但因为形式不同而词性或者意义不同 的单词则保留其不同形式的单词，如 dressed和dre

4、ssing、 dream 和 dreaming ;5、形容词和副词的比较级和最高级都不做归并，算作不同 的单词；6、be动词的各种形式考虑到其用法差异和频率，也不做 归并；7、课文为对话的已经去除了对话身份的词语，如第7课是Robert和Sophie间的对话，小编把每句话前表明说话人身 份的Robert和Sophie都删除了，但是对话内容中提到的人 名都保留了。按照以上原则，把这1084个单词进行归并筛选之后，单 词总数为945个，请看下表：单词词 频备注单词词 频备注a182Greece1about13green3abroad1greengrocer2absent2grew1across2g

22、以上的, 小编建议老师在第一册的实际教学中都不要花过多时间去做 重点解释和操练（当然，有些词在第一册是这样，但到了第二 册就有所区别了，之后我们会再跟大家分享的）。这是因为，如果词频低于5次，说明该词在实际生活中的 使用频率太低，基本属于消极词汇，这类词汇往往在意义和用 法上都较为单一，建议老师让学生能够做到认读即可，即看到 该词，能够知道其大致意思即可。比如说，表格中的airport、American 、August、bedroom 、darling 、everyone 、 downstairs、family、green、interesting 、myself、month、 paint、ra

23、n、mother、those、ticket、holiday、job、tomorrow 、 ready等等。在这些低词频的单词中，有些词看起来应该是积极词汇， 生活中似乎也常看到，但在本教材中词频却较低，这一方面是 因为教材编者对于语言材料的选择存在一定的个人偏好，但另 一方面主要还是因为教材存在其他的表达方式，而且往往更为 简单易懂。比如说，belong ,按理该词属积极词汇，学生应 该要掌握belong to的用法，但老师也可以让学生用学过的更 为简单的方式来表达；如果我们要表达The book belongs to him ,我们完全可以说 The book is his 或是 It

24、9; s his book 。 再比如说，terrible，该词也是积极词汇，生活中也较常见， 老师可以让学生用really bad来表达。当然，对于这些词中的一些动词还是需要选择性地进行讲 解的，比如说remember、finish、serve、fail等，但也只要 讲到这些词的常用搭配即可。 比如remember , 一般后面直接 跟名词，至于接doing或to do在第一册里可以不做拓展； finish后面一般直接接名词或doing，接doing的用法最好在 学了动名词之后再讲；serve后面一般直接接所服务的人；fail , 一般用作不及物动词，直接做谓语，或是用 fail in的表达

25、。老 师只要讲到这些词的这些用法即可，无需做过多拓展，因为这 些词其他的用法都不常见。而对于词频达到或高于40次的单词，往往其意义和用法 也都比较单一，所以建议老师在教学中也不要过多去讲解。与 词频达到或低于5次的单词不同的是，这类高频词在词类上往 往以虚词或是一些不常用的实词居多，比如冠词、介词、连词、 代词、情态动词或是助动词。而正因为这里词以虚词居多，而 虚词大多在语法范畴里会系统学习，所以作为词汇教学就无需 过多讲解了。各类词频的单词在数量上的情况是：词频达到或超过40次的单词很少，在945个单词中，总共只有30个单词占比略 超3%;而词频在5次或以下的单词在数量上则占了绝对多数， 总

26、共有717个，占比超过75%;而词频介于这两类之间的单 词总量为198个，占比不到20%,但就是这20%的单词才是 我们教学的重点单词，很巧的是这个比例刚好与管理学中的二 原理是相符的一一掌握了这常用的20%的单词，剩下80%的单词就无需花费过多时间去“研究” 了。需要补充的是，不管是哪类词频的单词，建议按照我们在 之前分享的词汇分类知识去选择性讲解，比如说老师应该选择 名词（抽象名词）、动词、形容词和副词来做讲解，其他词类 则以识记为主即可。不过，即使是这198个词，老师在讲解时 也不宜拓展得太多，最好以该词最为常用的两到三种用法的详 解为主即可。比如说，arrive ,只要讲它与in和at

27、的搭配用 法，再让学生识记其名词形式 arrival即可；speak ,只要讲它 常与语言搭配使用，如speak English ,再让学生识记其过去 式 spoke 和过去分词 spoken 形式即可；expensive , 只要知 道意思，再外加反义词 cheap的识记即可；ready ,只要讲 be ready to do 和 be ready for 的用法即可； usually , 只要 讲其作为一般现在时的频度副词的用法即可，当然也可以提醒 一下学生该词中s的发音/?/,因为这个音比较难发准，学生 常常要么发成/?,要么发成/d?/。当然，无论是哪种词频的单词，有一类词是基本可以忽
