2、adneand a strong emotion that can drive me to cry.The story is set in London and Paris at the time of the great French Revolution.It shows the causes of revolution and its effects on peoples day-to-day lives.Before the revolution,the King and the aristocracy treated their people cruelly in France.Th
3、e common people were extremely poor and miserable.The crops in the fields were poor as if even the land shared the misery of the people.And there were so heavy taxes that all the villagers had nothing to hand over at last.On the other hand,the aristocracy made their will as the law by using money an
4、d gold.There were no justice,no equality and no fairness.Just as what happened to Dr Manette,he wrote to the Minister to show the crime what Marquis Evremonde had done,resulting in himself being arrested and sent to the prison Bastille without any reason.Then this situation of darknewas needed to be
5、 changed.As people such as the Defarges prepared and arranged,at length the Revolution came to break out.When the Bastille was captured and the King was tried and put to death as well as many other aristocrats,things didnt go on as what they had been expected.The sistuation stayed the same,or even w
6、orse.The prisoners from the Bastille were set free while more prisons were filled with people who had done no wrong again.People who once lived on the bottom of clatook the charge now and their heart had been full of evil.The only thing they wanted to do was to revenge.And these so-called patriots w
7、ould like to see more and more innocent prisoners going to the guillotine and thats their joy.As the novel wrote,In everything they did were merciless,for they had been hardened in the fires of suffering and the touch of pity could make no mark on them.Equality and fairneis what people seek,which le
8、d to the French Revolution.As a consequence,neither equality nor fairnewas got after the revolution.And thats the tragedy of the history.I was heavyhearted when reading what Sydney Carton said before death and I burst into tears finally.双城记读后感英文版篇(二)“It was the best of times, and it was the worst of
9、 times。 It was the age of wisdom, and it was the age of foolishness。 It was the epoch of belief, and it was the epoch of incredulity。 It was the season of light, and it was the season of darkness。 It was the spring of hope, and it was the winter of despair。 We had everything before us, and we had no
10、thing before us。 We were all going direct to Heaven, and we were all going direct the other way。 In short, the period was so far like the present period。 That some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of parison only。 ”With the b
11、eginning of above words, Dickens told us a love story called “A Tale of Two Cities”, which is one of his most important representative works。 The novel profoundly exposed the society contradiction before the French Revolution, intensely attacks the aristocratic social class is dissolute and cruel, a
12、nd sincerely sympathizes with the depressed classes。 The novel also described many magnificent scenes like the revolt people attacked Bastille and so on, which displayed peoples great strength。The novel has portrayed many different people。 Doctor Manette is honest and kind but suffers the persecutio
13、n actually , Lucie is beautiful and gentle ,Charles is graceful and noble,Lorry is upright and honest ,Sydney is semblance of indifferent, innermost feelings of warm, unconventional but also selfless and lofty,Miss Pross is straightforward and loyal,Evremonde brothers are cruel and sinister。 The ple
14、x hatred is hard to solve, the cruel revenge has made more hatreds, loves rebirth in the hell edge, but take the life as the price。Among many different kinds of people in the story, it is Sydney Carton who impressed me most。I cant describe my feeling at the first sight of him。 To tell the truth, he
15、was not eye-catching at that time。 When the readers were immersed in the meeting between Lucie and Charles, he only played a little role as a lawyer who had the same face with Charles and extricated him from accusation through this point。Then they went to drink。 Without scruple, Carton expressed his
16、 dislike to Charles。 Yes, they had the same face。 But they were different。 Carton was a little lawyer, while Charles was a successful man。 Carton was quite free and easy, while Charles was graceful and noble。 In fact, they were absolutely two distinctive men except for their appearance。 Certainly, w
17、hat Carton cared about was not the wealth or the position, but the love of Lucie。 He realized that Lucie loved Charles, so he was barely out of control at that time。Every time I read this part, I could feel his sincerity and broad-minded。 By no means would he say a lie。 He must tell you what he thin
18、ks in the heart。 It is Sydney Carton, a true man。After a short time, he cant resist himself going to see Lucie。 But when he stepped into the small forest, he saw Lucie and Charles getting together happily。 He didnt rush towards them, however, he returned without a word。 Though he had a period of dep
19、ression after that, he was clear who Lucie loved was not him。 So what he only would do was to bless her。Some days later, he came to meet Lucie again。 He still told Lucie about his love, although he knew it was useless。 He just wanted her to know it, as he said,“I want you to know that you are my las
20、t dream in my life。 ”Many times, love is a thing about only one person。 “I love you。”-Its my business, not yours。So when Carton showed his deep love to Lucie, I suddenly felt that this man was so lovely and deserved to beloved。“Remember always theres a man who could give his life to you, or anyone y
21、ou love。” Carton left with these words。 But all of these seemed a sign of misfortune。From then on, I came to understand how profound his love was。 No doubt that it is the most moving love words in the world。 Although you dont love me, I am still there for you or your beloved though thick and thin。Bu
22、t I knew in this story, Carton was bound to a tragic role。 So when I saw he only left a view of his back in her wedding, there was a plex mood appearing slowly in my heart。Some years passed。 When Lucie appeared in the front of Carton, she became a mother。 This time, Lucies face was filled with anxie
23、ty。 Because Charles was in prison and would be killed soon。 What lead to this was the plicated and filthy past。From the point, the dirty of society was reflected。 It was the sorrow in that period。 But they must pay for this sorrow。 So it was the time that Carton achieved his permission。 “I told you
24、once, for you I would do anything。 I will。 ” He said。At the last moment, he and Charles exchanged。 That they had the same face helped them at the second time。 When Lucie and her family left without knowing the truth, Carton, instead of Charles, went to be killed。How can we evaluate his action? We ca
25、nt say anything about it because all what he did was out of love。As he said to the young girl who panied him before died, “If we have no fear, we can be calm all the way。” He was so calm to greet what would be ing soon, for she would get her happiness and he loved her forever。“It is a far, far bette
26、r thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known。” With her face rising before his eyes, he went to execution ground calmly。It is “A Tale of Two Cities”, also a tale of Sydney Carton。双城记读后感英文版篇(三)The tale of two cities is a historical story,

29、e into prison for 18 years 。 During these 18 years,Doctor Manette lost his freedom and suffer a great in spirit 。I felt unthinkable that Marquis of Evermonde and his brother killed people just as easily as they killed chickens。 They deprived other peoples freedom as they liked and they thought it wa
30、s normal and unremarkable。 They had never realized that they had done something wrong or something improper。 Because their nature was cruel and evil, like demons。 There is an old saying which means: People who mit too many crimes will kill themselves。 After all, there is justice in the world。 The de
31、mons cant be rampant forever。 Because the world will not forgive them。 They will pay their lives for their crimes。 Lets see the consequence of the Marquis,He lay there like a stone with a knife pushed into his heart。” I think it was just what he ought to gain and it is a real exciting scene。The Marq
32、uis death was just the beginning of peoples resistance to the nobleman。 Gradually more and more people joined in the revolution。 One after another nobleman were sentenced to death and their heads were cut down 。 However, some innocent people were implicated in the revolution。 Charles Darney was one
33、of them He was the nephew of Marquis of Evermonde。 To the opposite of his uncle, Darney was a kind and independent young man。Dickens spoke highly of kindness mercy and love in the novel too。 This is the other thone of the novel when Doctor Manette was released from prison。 It was his daughter Lucie
34、who took care of him and helped him return to normal。 During this time, Dr manette and Lucie knew Charles Darney and Sydeny Carton, the two young man fell in love with Lucie at the same time 。 At last, Lucie married Chares Darney 。Dr Manette accepted Darney as his son-in-law although he knew that Darney was the nephew of t
